We had an amazing day today traveling to Lafia, around that Agyaraku of gida mai akuya village for our former church choir member who got married and living with her husband there for about over 3 years. Journey down to the main village gida mai akuya was not easy for us. Because of the raining season the road to the village was so bad and water full everywhere. We had to tell the bike mwn (okada men) to be very careful and move gently so we will not fall down and dirty our clothes. But inside main town Lafia is very beautiful, the town road, houses, streets, shops are all looking beautiful. Even the village too was good but the road was really bad especially at this raining season and for those people that have not been there before . But Glory to God we landed there safely.
We got there and noticed they were inside the church already and the service was still going on. We clean our legs from the dirty water or splashes water we might have gotten from the road due to the bike men ridding us . After we are done cleaning our legs we entered the church and luckily they haven't dedicate the child yet. After few minutes the pastor incharge of the church called the family and their well wishers to match forward for the child's dedication and we all stood up and went to the front and attained the dedication. After the church was over we greeted the people that came from far and near and met our friend Jenifer who was our former choir member before she got married. She was so happy seeing us all the way from Akwanga. She told some of us about the child's dedication but she doesn't expect to see us this way considering how difficult things are in the country and transportation is not easy to get. We laughed and hugged each other and we greet her husband and he was so happy seeing us as well.
Jennifer was our former church choir member, she's a dedicated and committed member in a choir before she got married. Some of us kept the friendship alive and healthy even though she got married in a different and far place away from us her friends. Marriage doesn't stop our friendship even though the friendship wasn't that strong as it used to be but yet we are still looking out for each other time to time. Jennifer took us inside their sitting room and gave us food and drinks. We talked for a while and laughed at each other talking about our past memories while she was still single and in the choir with us. Of a truth she was so excited seeing us today.
This lady holding this child here is Precious, her cousin sister. Precious and I are very close friends and both of us likes eating food a lot. Other people went to Lafia town in a different car while precious and I got into the same car. Journey from Akwanga to Lafia is not that far, a journey of about 45 minutes or an hour. While we left home Akwanga to Lafia town, on our way Precious told me she wants to eat biscuits so I bought two biscuits 200 hundred each making 400 hundred. Then those people standing by the road side selling drinks, porch corn, bottle water and banana came near our car and Precious asked the driver to slow down because she wants to buy drink, the driver slowdown and she bought drink five alive for 800 hundreds.
You can imagine a journey of just an hour we bought things on our way as if we didn't eat at home. That's why I said earlier Precious and I likes eating food a lot. Even if we go to choir concert and food was shared or given precious and I doesn't play with it, we will eat and make sure we are satisfied. So, we all took off from Akwanga and meet at Lafia bus stop then took bikes that took us all together to the village for the child's dedication.
The dedication was good and indeed it was a joyful moments for the family especially Jenifer the mother. We were told for the past 2 years she had miscarriages and had issues each time she was pregnant. Luckily God has helped her and this pregnancy stayed till her delivery. She said that was why she and her husband named the child Miracle. Because they thought the pregnancy will not stay just the way other pregnancy couldn't stay but had complications and often had miscarriages.
It was indeed a joyful experience to become a mother for her. We celebrates with her and the husband for a special gift of a child that God has given to them and we brought out some of the few gifts we bought for the child and gave them and then decided to take our journey back home. She prayerd and wishes us journey mercy back to our destination and we departed .
It was a joyful experienced I had today. I pray and I wish them strength and wisdom on how to train their first child in a godly and respectable way.
