HONEY, YOU'RE FAMILIAR... 🎶
LIKE MY MIRROR YEARS AGO...🎶
That is how the famous song "The Eden by Hozier goes. This lyrics is a perfect fit for these wonderful photos. These are photos of my aunt, my cousin and my son during his recent college graduation and a throwback to his high school graduation. How time flies so fast indeed.
My cousin who just graduated is my aunt's only son among four daughters. We are first degree cousins and we spent almost all of our childhood together.
I am so proud of my cousin as he slowly pave his way to his dreams. Sadly, his father is not around anymore as he died a couple of years back due to some disease, he is not able to attend our cousin's graduation.
But for sure, he will be so happy in heaven seeing his only son slowly reach his dreams of becoming a policeman someday. My uncle would be so proud of him.
Seeing our aunt strive hard in selling in their sari-sari store in able to send my cousins to school, I really am so proud of them knowing they really put so much effort to become who they are now. Hard work really does pay off.
With the death of our uncle, our aunt single-handedly sent her children to school and now she has three professionals. The eldest daughter is a non-teaching personnel in DEPED, the second daughter is an elementary school teacher in DEPED, the third daughter is a secondary teacher in DEPED. Soon, the fourth will be a policeman soon. Then the youngest which is the fifth, is still in Grade 10.
Not all of his siblings came to attend the graduation ceremony, only their eldest, third and fifth sibling came to the sports complex. The other two were left at home since they have a sari-sari store to attend to and they are also busy with the dinner preparations at home.
My son and my cousin which is the fifth sibling. They two have been so close since my son grew up in their household, my aunt took care of him back when I was still studying college. I gave birth when I was 17 and it was my first year in college back then. My aunt was really a great help as he babysit my son every time I went to college.
We attended my cousin's college graduation at Don Celestino Martinez Sports Complex Bogo City,Northern Cebu, Philippines. Today, he finally finished his college degree which is Bachelor of Science in Criminology.
There were indeed a lot of graduates at Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges in Bogo City which had corresponding hood colors which represents their departments. As for my cousin who graduated Bachelor of Science in Criminology, his hood is color violet.
Their school also have their own covered court but they did not chose to have it there maybe the space is not that massive enough to fit all the graduates.
The graduation ceremony lasted for about five hours and after the ceremony, we went straight to their house for the celebratory dinner.
Every Filipino celebration is incomplete without the "lechon" or "whole roasted pig", then some Filipino side dishes also. Here is our dinner for tonight. We paired it with hanging rice or puso since rice is really a staple food here in the Philippines.
For the dessert, there was a cake with some congratulatory message. There were two cakes but I forgot to take a photo of the second one. One cake was chocolate and the second cake was mocha-flavored.
We then took some photos with our family members.
A photo of me and some of my cousins wherein some of them are from other places and just came home to celebrate the graduation of our cousin.
My cousins are really supportive and we really do not mind traveling miles just to see each other and celebrate milestones like college graduations.
Our grandmother. She is so proud and happy that she will have a policeman grandson soonest. You will indeed see how proud she is of his grandson.
My younger cousins also struck some poses as they idolize their soon to be policeman cousin. They traveled all the way from different places going here in Bogo City to celebrate our cousin's college graduation.
The graduation celebration really felt like a reunion as a lot of our family members went home just to celebrate with our cousin in his much deserved success.
My brother and my son. My brother is graduating senior high school soonest and when he goes to college, he wants to be like my cousin also, he wants to enroll in "Bachelor Of Science In Criminology" and my son has the same goal also, he also wants to be a policeman soon and he idolizes his cousin so much. They are both so proud of him.
I love the idea that my cousin really is a good role model to the younger generation in our family that is why the younger generation really looks up to him and idolizes him so much.
Some photos at the dinner table. It is a nice feeling being reunited with family over celebrations like such. Graduations are really a great thing to celebrate. It is a way to honor all the success and hard work the graduate has put into.
In the Fely-Silverio heirs, (our grand mother and grand father), hopefully soonest, this cousin of mine will soon be the first policeman in our family. And we really could not be more proud. I know he will make it because during his college years, he is an officer. He really is into the service and he is a good leader and a good role model.
Successes like these is not just the success of the graduate, our cousin, but it is the success of our entire family. He will bring so much pride to us. I am so proud he really finished his chosen course on time.
Hopefully, he will pass the board examination on his first take.
Cheers to success and hard work! Congratulations to the graduates of batch 2024-2025! May you all be able to reach your dreams. Ciao!❤️
