Hey, Hivers! Happy New Year! This is @makiyumee and I am here to start 2025 with a new blog. For today, I will be sharing to you about how my friends and I kicked off 2025 with our first outing together.
It was 10 am on a bright and sunny Saturday morning, and I was on my way to Kawit, Medellin, where my friends and I had planned to meet for our first outing of the year. The day was perfect, with the sun shining brightly and a gentle breeze making it even more refreshing. I felt excited as I traveled, looking forward to the fun and laughter that awaited us. Just the day before, we had talked about how we should spend this day. We all agreed that going to the beach would be the perfect way to relax and have some fun before school started again. It was a great idea to enjoy the fresh air, the sound of the waves, and the peaceful vibe that only the beach could offer.
Another thing we planned was to bring along the leftover food from New Year’s Eve. My friends and I didn’t want it to go to waste since the food had been sitting in our refrigerators. Instead of throwing it away, we thought it would be better to enjoy it together during our outing. It felt like a smart and fun way to share good food while celebrating the start of the new year.
When I arrived at Kawit, I joined a few of my friends who were already waiting at a friend's house. We spent some time chatting and laughing as we waited for the rest of our group to arrive. It didn’t take too long before everyone was finally complete, and the excitement grew as we got ready to head to our destination. Together, we made our way to Kilpardz Beach, a beautiful spot where we could relax and enjoy the day. Once we arrived, we rented a tent and a table to set up our little space by the shore.
After settling in, we decided to prepare something special for lunch. We all agreed to have some Sinugbang Baboy since everyone was craving grilled pork. To make it even better, we also bought some fresh scallops, which made us even more excited for the meal. We headed to the nearby market to buy meat, spices, and other ingredients we needed for the grilling.
While waiting for the food to cook, I spotted a manong vendor passing by, selling Taho. I couldn’t resist and quickly bought a cup. The warm, sweet Taho was exactly what I needed to ease my hunger while we waited. Each sip was comforting, and I felt so thankful that manong showed up at the right time. As the food grilled and the delicious aroma filled the air, we could feel our excitement building even more.
Since we had a lot of meat to grill, it took some time before everything was ready. By the time we finally sat down to eat our lunch, it was already around 1 pm. However, I wasn’t feeling very hungry anymore because I had been snacking the whole time while waiting. There were so many snacks laid out—macaroni salad, fruits, cupcakes and polvoron, and other leftover desserts from New Year’s Eve—and I couldn’t resist eating them one by one. Slowly but surely, they filled my stomach and kept me satisfied until our lunch was served.
When it was finally time to eat, we all gathered around the table and enjoyed the food we had worked hard to prepare. The Sinugbang Baboy was perfectly grilled, and the scallops were so fresh and flavorful. Even though I wasn’t that hungry anymore, I still couldn’t help but take a few bites because everything tasted so good. We laughed and chatted as we ate, enjoying every moment of the meal together.
After lunch, we decided it was time to have some real fun and take a dip in the water. Everyone was excited to cool off and enjoy the beach, so we quickly got ready. We changed into our rashguards and swimming shorts, making sure we were comfortable and prepared for the swim. Once we were ready, we walked toward the shore, feeling the soft sand under our feet and the cool breeze coming from the sea.
The water looked so inviting, and as we stepped in, we immediately felt the coldness of the waves against our skin. It was refreshing, especially after spending time under the sun. We laughed, splashed around, and enjoyed every moment as we played in the water together. It was the perfect way to relax and have fun after a delicious meal.
As the sun started to set, we left the cold waters of the beach. The chilly air made me shiver, and the gloomy clouds above signaled that heavy rain was on the way. Even with the dark clouds, we decided to stay and wait for the sunset since it was one of the moments we had been looking forward to. When the sunset finally came, we wasted no time and quickly took photos together before it disappeared. We smiled and laughed as the camera clicked here and there, enjoying the moment, until we felt the first drops of rain on our skin.
Realizing the rain could get heavier as soon as we spend more time at the beach, we hurriedly gathered our belongings and cleaned up our area to avoid trouble getting home. Once everything was packed and tidy, we said our goodbyes to each other and went our separate ways. On my way home, I felt so thankful for the wonderful memories we created that day. It was truly a great way to start the new year with my friends.
