Spending time with friends you don’t always get to see is one of the best feelings in the world. This day was all about laughter, catching up, taking way too many pictures, and enjoying simple moments together. Even though our outfits were casual and the plan was simple, it turned out to be one of those days I’ll always remember.
We finally arrived at our favorite spot, the kind of place that already feels like a second home, but of course, we weren’t complete yet—some of my friends were still on their way, moving on what I like to call true Philippine time, which basically means, “I’ll get there… eventually.” HAHAHA. I was feeling a little sleepy from the trip, my eyes half-open like I’d just woken up from a nap I didn’t actually take, so instead of just sitting there doing nothing, I decided to entertain myself. I pulled out my phone and took four whole selfies—yes, four, because one is never enough when you’re trying to convince yourself you’re more awake than you actually are. I even tried different angles, fixing my hair a little, forcing my smile until it looked real. By the time I was done, I felt a little more alive, and honestly, I couldn’t help but laugh at myself. I thought, If my friends can’t give me company yet, at least my camera can. HAHAHA.
When we were finally complete, my sleepiness disappeared instantly, replaced by that excited feeling you only get when you’re with the people you’ve been waiting for. I didn’t even waste a second—I grabbed my phone and started taking more photos with them, and before we knew it, we were already in a mini photoshoot, changing poses, laughing at our awkward angles, and making silly faces like we always do. We took many, many pictures, maybe too many, but to be honest, I didn’t care because I really missed them so much. Deep inside, I knew that starting tomorrow, things would be different—we’d all go back to our own busy lives, with classes starting and each of us in different schools. I wasn’t sure when we’d get to see each other again, and that thought made me hold on to those moments even tighter. Every click of the camera felt like saving a piece of the day in my heart, so that when the distance and schedules keep us apart, I can still look back and feel like we’re all together again.
MY PHOTOS HERE
Next, I told my friends to take some photos of me, and honestly, the moment I saw the first picture, I knew I was in trouble—because I really liked it, and that meant I wanted more and more! HAHAHAHA. Every time my friend handed me the phone to show the shots, I’d say, “Okay, one more!” until I lost count of how many we’d taken. I was already laughing because I felt like my friend behind the camera might start getting mad at me, but instead, she just kept complimenting me, saying things like, “Uy, ang ganda mo dito!” which made me want even more shots. HAHAHAHA. The funny thing is, I wasn’t even dressed up for the day. I was just wearing my comfy taslan shorts and a plain blue shirt—super simple look—because my only purpose was to see my friends, not to do a fashion show. But somehow, with the right angle, the right smile, and the right company, even my simplest outfit felt picture-worthy.
ME AND MY BFF
Next, we also took a few pictures of just me and my best friend, and honestly, this was something special because this girl is the type who almost never joins whenever we plan a laag. She’s always the “pass” or “maybe next time” type, so seeing her actually there with us felt like a rare miracle. HAHAHA. While we were posing, I couldn’t help but tell her, “THIS IS VERY AMAZING, THIS IS JUST THE FIRST TIME YOU GO WITH US!” I said it in a half-teasing, half-serious tone because I really wanted her to know how happy I was that she finally joined. She just laughed so hard, probably because she knew I was right, and maybe also because she could already hear me saying this again and again for the rest of the day. HAHAHAHA. For me, those few pictures we took together were more than just selfies—they were proof that even the friend who never goes out with us can still surprise me in the best way.
AT NIGHT
After all the picture-taking and endless laughter, we suddenly felt a little hungry, so we decided to order Jollibee using Grab. It was one of those quick group decisions where no one even needed to vote—just the mention of “Jollibee” and everyone’s eyes lit up. HAHAHA. While waiting for the rider, we were already talking about what we ordered, teasing each other about who would eat the most fries or who would steal the most chicken skin. I kept checking the app to track the delivery, and every time the little motorcycle icon moved closer, we’d get more excited, like kids waiting for a surprise gift. Honestly, there’s just something about Jollibee with friends—it’s not just the food, it’s the feeling that no matter where we are, a simple meal together can make the day even better.
**It’s so fun because when you have an iPhone camera, your phone will definitely end up with full storage HAHAHA, but it’s okayyy because every photo is with my favorite friends, and that makes it all worth it. THANKYYYOOOUUUUU READER!this is @pearlyshelll
