What is up hivers! Shizen here again and I’m gonna share with you my experience on the southernmost tip of Cebu!
Me and my friends decided to go on a road trip and we ended up choosing Santander which is the last part of Southern Cebu. I’m from Estaca, Compostela, Cebu and that is around 154 km from my place to Santander and around 308 km back and forth. There are only 3 of us on this ride, me and my other 2 friends.
We gathered at Shell Mandaue and we also fully tanked our motorcycle here so basically this is our starting point on the way to Santander. We inflate our tires for safety and we started a prayer before heading out because it’s a really long ride. On our way there, there’s a bit of traffic but once we’ve reached the province side, it was so peaceful and no traffic.
We stopped over Sibonga to eat and let our motorcycles rest, after Sibonga we stopped over Boljoon to take some pictures. When you pass this place, you’ll see different spanish-cultured buildings. You will start seeing beautiful seas on the side of the roads here. The place is really relaxing to be honest.
We then went straight to Oslob to take our lunch. On our way there, we’re cruising at 70-80 kph. The roads on the sides are really giving you the province vibes and the road is really quiet so you can speed up with ease. When we got there at Oslob, the place was really good and I heard that the beaches are really clean.
After Oslob, we went straight to our destination which is the southernmost tip of Cebu! Santander. We stopped at Santander Park where you can see a big lettering on the walls. When you reach this place, you will see there’s a building called “Hapitan sa Sugbo” where you can buy some food and remembrance for your family and stuff. Beside the building is a resort I think but I’m not sure because there’s a beautiful sea beside it.
We took pictures then we decided to take a rest at the park. We took a nap just for us to recover on our way home. It was really exhausting driving 150+ km on a motorcycle😅. I really feel my back pain because the roads are really bad not gonna lie😅. It will be really bad for the shocks of your motorcycle if you can’t see the potholes so luckily my friend on the front is giving us foot signals for us to avoid the potholes. So I recommend going in a group when you’re going for a long ride so that there will be one that can signal some hazards on the road.
We really did not explore everything because we’re not staying, we’re just going straight back home after😅. After taking a nap, we decided to go straight back home. On our way home, we started a prayer before heading out also and we sped up a little because it was around 3 pm already and home is yet too far and night time is coming so we decided to speed up around 80-90 kph as long as the road is empty, we will take the opportunity to save us time.
Because we were speeding up and we started with like 3 bars left on our tanks, we were a bit nervous because we cannot find some gasoline stations😅. Luckily when we had 1 bar left on our gas, we ran by a gasoline station so we fully tanked it for safety😅. On our way home, there was a bit of traffic so it was more painful in the back because we did not do any stops, we rode it straight so it was really challenging. But in the end, it was a successful ride for us and we all got to our safe and sound thanks to our prayers. This was our first time riding out for a very long destination from our homes, so we cannot simply forget this experience.
That is it for me hivers! See you on my next blog! When you have something to do, do it! Live your life and don’t stress out every single day!💪
