But whoever has the goods of this world and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God dwell in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in fact and in truth.

Currently with the situation in which we live, it is common to see people at the doors of our houses asking for something to eat. This is a reality that we see daily and that we cannot close our eyes and our hearts.
Particularly, it is difficult for me due to my unemployed status and that there is no direct way to obtain income for my livelihood, but rather to depend directly on the mercy of God. There are always people who come knocking on the doors of your house, when I have to give, I really give them and when I don't have to give, it pains me to say no. However, there are those who, by being able to give, have closed their hearts to those most in need. The word we read at the beginning clearly tells us that we must love not in word but in action. If someone says to love and does not practice what he says, then the love of God cannot be in that person.
When the heavenly Father sent his Son to die for us on Calvary's cross, his love for us was such that it is difficult to describe, his love was transformed into an action that was placed in the eyes of the world through Jesus Christ. God put into practice what he said about love for us. Similarly, we must learn from this love, which is not a simple word but a true action.
Solidarity at this time of the pandemic is very important, as many people lost their jobs and global poverty is on the rise. This is the time to help each other and show that love is more than just a word, but that it is a significant and relevant action.
