Let's read from Daniel 3:8-18
The verse to memorize: v18
"But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up."
The three Hebrew friends obviously were well brought up in Hebrew laws and knew that idolatry was abominable and unacceptable to Jehovah.
Amazingly, they were able to stand their ground and would not bow to idolatry. This is not a small fit given, first, that they were strangers in a foreign land.
Secondly, they were already very high officials in Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar and would ordinarily want to do everything to please their benefactor.
Thirdly, king Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful man in the empire, he wielded great power; life and death were in his hands. So to risk angering the king meant certain death.
For these young men to defy the kings orders would take a tremendous amount of courage and faith in God.
The king even asked what God would deliver them from his hands. Yet these young men feared God more than they loved life or feared the king.
Do you and I have such reverence for God today?
Are you facing conspiracy today at your workplace or are you being threatened for your righteous stand?
Remember these young men, may their story encourage you to be confident in God and not yield to compromise.
