May I be in the house of the Lord every day of my life
One thing I have sued the Lord, this one I will seek; May I be in the house of the Lord every day of my life, to contemplate the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

Begging is a synonym for a defendant that falls very well in this context, in my opinion, clearly expresses David's intention in writing this Psalm.
David pleads with God to fulfill this longing of his heart when he says, "That I be in the house of the Lord every day of my life," this is perhaps the greatest demonstration that David had a heart according to God's.

Then there are the reasons I set out to have this desire by saying, "To contemplate the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple." That is, delight both in the presence of the highest and of knowing and searching what it has (in its temple).
Undoubtedly David had a communion with the Father, the product of seeking him tirelessly, every day, which allowed him to be closer and closer to God and to be able to overcome his imperfections and weaknesses to the point of rectifying and changing course on the occasions that transgressed God's law.
This psalm contains a wonderful message that is otherwise a worthy example to be imitated, both for a Christian who earnestly seeks to be before God's presence every day, and for anyone who desires in his heart to seek God. |
