Changing ballast lamp with halogen tubes for Led tubes [Esp-Eng]

Hace unos días se le pidió mi esposo como favor que hiciera en mi trabajo de electricidad, y como él lo quería ir solo pues me pidió que lo acompañara, el trabajo consistía en cambiar unas lámparas con balastro y tubos de halogeno, por tubos Led. No sé si haya gente por ahí queriendo hacer el cambio y no ha podido, pero espero que con mi publicación tengan una idea de como hacerlo.

Mi esposo me pidió que le acompañara principalmente porque debía subirse a escaleras y bajar toda la base de las lámparas para poder cambiarlas, y esto es algo que estando solo podía ser peligroso. Así que yo hice un excelente trabajo sosteniendo la escalera y tomando fotos de el proceso, pero más allá de eso, también aprendí a hacer el cambio que es súper rápido y sencillo de hacer.

A few days ago my husband was asked as a favor to do in my electrical work, and as he wanted to go alone he asked me to accompany him, the work consisted of changing some lamps with ballast and halogen tubes, Led tubes. I do not know if there are people out there wanting to make the change and have not been able to, but I hope that with my publication they have an idea of how to do it.

My husband asked me to go with him mainly because he had to climb the stairs and lower the whole base of the lamps to be able to change them, and this is something that being alone could be dangerous. So I did an excellent job holding the ladder and taking pictures of the process, but beyond that, I also learned how to make the change which is super fast and easy to do.

Para comenzar luego de bajar la base de la lámpara hay que desatornillar los balastros y todo el sistema de cableado que este contiene, las desventajas que veo al seguir utilizando lámparas con balastro es que estos consumen un poco más de energía, duran menos que los tubos Led y honestamente es un poquito más fastidioso cambiarlos, quizá antes se necesitaban más para que un lugar estuviera bien iluminado, pero ahora eso lo podemos conseguir a un menor costo y con mucha más facilidad en los tubos Led.

Luego de desarmar el cableado y el balastro, entonces fue hora de poner los socates, estos son especiales para tubos Led es el T8, la parte más complicada fue adaptarlos a la base de la lampara, pero pudimos improvisar con un poquito de cable, colocandolo con mucho cuidado para que no tuviera contacto con el otro cable que iba a mandar la electricidad. Medimos para que los tres socates quedaran al mismo nivel de cada lado y luego, cometimos el error de subir la base para conectarla.

To begin after lowering the lamp base must unscrew the ballasts and all the wiring system that this contains, the disadvantages I see to continue using lamps with ballast is that they consume a little more energy, last less than the Led tubes and honestly is a little more annoying to change them, maybe before they needed more for a place to be well lit, but now we can get that at a lower cost and much more easily in the Led tubes.

After disassembling the wiring and the ballast, then it was time to put the sockets, these are special for Led tubes is the T8, the most complicated part was to adapt them to the base of the lamp, but we could improvise with a little bit of cable, placing it very carefully so that it did not have contact with the other cable that was going to send the electricity. We measured so that the three sockets were at the same level on each side and then we made the mistake of raising the base to connect it.

Digo error, porque la base es súper pesada y cuando la subimos fue que nos dimos cuenta de que una de las conexiones estaba mal y pues hubo que bajarla de nuevo para arreglarla. Así que, un paso importante es revisar las conexiones antes de subir las bases, nosotros lo probamos con una extensión. El mismo cable debía llevar electricidad a los tres socates y por ende encender los 3 tubos.

Lo genial de estos socates y los tubos Led es que solo necesitas ajustar y girar una sola vez para que calse perfectamente, de hecho queda tan bien ajustado que por más movimientos qué hagas no se sueltan, de hecho nosotros subimos la base con todo y los tubos puestos y no hubo ningún problema, claro lo hicimos así porque en este caso iba a ser más fácil que poner los tubos directo en la base ya colocada en el techo.

I say error, because the base is super heavy and when we raised it we realized that one of the connections was wrong and we had to lower it again to fix it. So, an important step is to check the connections before raising the bases, we tested it with an extension. The same wire was to bring electricity to the three sockets and thus light the 3 tubes.

The great thing about these sockets and the LED tubes is that you only need to adjust and turn once to fit perfectly, in fact it is so well adjusted that no matter how many movements you make they do not come loose, in fact we raised the base with everything and the tubes and there was no problem, of course we did so because in this case it would be easier than putting the tubes directly on the base already placed on the ceiling.

Los tubos Led alumbran bastante bien, al menos yo note una gran diferencia de los tubos de halogeno, se siente una luz más cálida y que no molesta tanto la vista, por otro lado ahora cualquier persona puede cambiar los tubos Led cuando estos ya no funcionen y mientras más fácil sea hacer un cambio por uno mismo es mejor.

The Led tubes light quite well, at least I noticed a big difference from the halogen tubes, it feels a warmer light and that does not bother both the view, on the other hand now anyone can change the Led tubes when they no longer work and the easier it is to make a change by oneself is better.
