The festive period is a time to celebrate and make merry with loved ones. For me, it was an opportunity to travel from Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom, to another local government area to spend quality time with my family. My grandma warmly welcomed me, along with my cousins who had also come to feast and celebrate Christmas.
The two weeks I spent in the village with my extended family were filled with fun, play, traditional music, games, and even a visit to the waterfront. However, as I returned to my house in Uyo after the Christmas celebration and break, I was greeted by an unfamiliar sight - a messy and dusty space. The long absence from my home, coupled with the dusty atmosphere, had turned my little abode into a chaotic mess.
Dropping my luggage, I rolled up my sleeves and began to examine the house conditions, taking note of where the most attention was needed. As a resident of a single self-contained apartment, I was aware of the task ahead and quickly gathered the necessary cleaning items: broom, sponge, trash bags, soap, and disinfectants. I started the cleaning from the kitchen with the washing of all the dishes even though I was dirty from meal but dusty. Next I moved to the bathroom and toilet did the same and headed to the room, where I had to move my foam sweep under the bed and dust the window glass.
With these essentials in hand, I was ready to tackle the mess and restore my home to its former glory.
Cómo Limpié Mi Hogar Después del Receso de Navidad
El período festivo es un momento para celebrar y divertirse con seres queridos. Para mí, fue una oportunidad para viajar desde Uyo, la capital de Akwa Ibom, a otra área de gobierno local para pasar tiempo de calidad con mi familia. Mi abuela me dio una cálida bienvenida, junto con mis primos que también habían venido a celebrar y disfrutar de la Navidad.
Las dos semanas que pasé en el pueblo con mi familia extendida estuvieron llenas de diversión, juegos, música tradicional, juegos y sogar una visita al puerto. Sin embargo, cuando regresé a mi casa en Uyo después de la celebración y el descanso de Navidad, me encontré con una vista desconocida: un espacio desordenado y polvoriento. La larga ausencia de mi hogar, unida al ambiente polvoriento, había convertido mi pequeño hogar en un caos. Dejando mi equipaje, me remangué y comencé a examinar las condiciones de la casa, tomando nota de dónde se necesitaba más atención. Como residente de un apartamento autosuficiente, era consciente de la tarea que tenía por delante y rápidamente reuní los artículos de limpieza necesarios: escoba, esponja, bolsas de basura, jabón y desinfectantes.
Empecé la limpieza en la cocina, lavando todos los platos, aunque estaba sucio de la comida y polvoriento. Luego me mudé al baño y el inodoro y hice lo mismo, y seguí hacia la habitación, donde tuve que mover mi colchón para barrer debajo de la cama y limpiar el vidrio de la ventana. Con estos elementos esenciales en la mano, estaba listo para enfrentar el desorden y restaurar mi hogar a su antiguo esplendor.
