I live in Cuba. 🇨🇺 I say this because what I am going to tell and show you makes more sense here. Here there is a saying that goes like this: "Necessity gives birth to a male child." It was one of those days when we ran out of gas for cooking.
Nuestra olla de presión Reina, como se les conoce aquí a esas que lo hacen todo, estaba rota sin esperanza de poder arreglarla, ya que su tiempo de trabajo había superado con creces su tiempo útil.
Our pressure cooker Reina, as they are known here for those that do it all, was broken beyond repair, as its working time had far exceeded its useful life.
Con la perspectiva casi segura de quedarnos sin poder terminar la comida, mis neuronas trabajaban a un ritmo inaudito y de pronto, de manera instantánea, mi mente percibía en aquella Reina destronada la solución mágica para terminar la comida.
With the almost certain prospect of not being able to finish the meal, my neurons were working at an unheard-of pace and suddenly, instantaneously, my mind perceived in that dethroned Reina the magical solution to finish the meal.
Manos a la obra con pinzas y destornillador, procedí a extraer la resistencia. El fogón eléctrico de una hornilla yacía roto, pero su resistencia de dos partes aún servía; separé cortando con la segueta. Uní esa parte de la resistencia del fogón con la de la Reina y formé un binomio perfecto. 👌🏻
Hands-on with pliers and a screwdriver, I proceeded to extract the heating element. The electric burner of one stove lay broken, but its two-part heating element still worked; I separated them by cutting with a hacksaw. I connected that part of the burner's heating element with the Reina's and formed a perfect combination. 👌🏻
