And to set an example, of course I will comply with the daily themes that we offered to our subscribers yesterday, so today is Thursday, of Myth or Reality!. Day to confirm or disprove those homemade tricks that we stumbled upon on Google or that a friend invites us to try.
In my case today I want to talk about a trick to get rid of cockroaches, which I not only read on Google, but my mother-in-law recommended me to try with my eyes closed. And of course coming from two sources that I could call reliable, I did not hesitate to try it!
But first I put them in context, although you may have already realized that I had problems with cockroaches, an insect that I am terrified of, and that even my son has had to save me once or twice from them because they simply paralyze me.
Well, if you have read me a little you will know that my house is a mixture of jungle and nursery because outside it is surrounded by a lot of vegetation and inside my mom has a good collection of ornamental plants to which she usually places dried coconut shells (one day I will tell you their function), which attracts these horrible insects that ended up entering through my window.
The thing is that I started to notice one every now and then and of course it is not something we want to see at home and much less someone who hates cockroaches, so I started to look for homemade options because my two children are allergic and the little one is asthmatic, so commercial insecticides would be my last option.
And with that in mind I turned to the all-knowing.... Google, who as a first option showed me the miraculous combination of baking soda, water and sugar that promised that in a few days the cockroaches would be dead.
The truth was quite simple to prepare and I had everything at home, but first I wanted to check with someone who might have already used it to be sure, so I turned to my mother-in-law who not only recommended it but also taught me how to prepare it, and it was so simple that I decided to try it right away!
I simply had to mix the three ingredients in equal amounts and form little balls that I had to place in some places like corners and cabinets. Easier than that, I thought, so in a container I added two spoonfuls of baking soda, two spoonfuls of sugar and two spoonfuls of water.

The "poison " was supposed to work in the following way: first of all, the function of the sugar was to attract the cockroaches to eat the little balls and then the bicarbonate came into action, which was supposed to make them die when they ate it because it is "deadly " for them and the water, well, nothing, it simply served to join the two products and make the little balls.
But all this turned out to be a fraud (at least in my case) and I had to kill them in the traditional way because definitely the baking soda with sugar and water turned out to be a MYTH!!!!

Si Googlean "veneno casero para cucarachas" verán que lo primero que les muestra el famoso buscador es "bicarbonato de sodio, agua y azúcar". Así que hoy, en el día de Mito o Realidad les contaré mi experiencia con este truco. ¡Acompáñenme!
¡¡Feliz día gente bella de #homesolutions!! (cuántas ganas tenía de decir eso un día por favor!), espero se encuentren súper bien. Por mi parte no pueden darse una idea de la felicidad que siento al poder venir a este lugar que creamos con tanto cariño, a dejar el primer post de muchos que espero compartir desde esta casa.
Y para dar el ejemplo, por supuesto que voy a cumplir con las temáticas diarias que ofrecimos a nuestros suscriptores el día de ayer, así que hoy es Jueves, de ¡Mito o Realidad!. Día de confirmar o desvirtuar esos trucos caseros que nos topamos en Google o que algún amigo nos invita a probar.
En mi caso hoy les quiero hablar de un truco para deshacerme de las cucarachas, que no sólo leí en Google, sino que mi suegra me recomendó probar con los ojos cerrados. Y que por supuesto al venir de dos fuentes, que pudiese llamar confiables, ¡no dudé en probar!
Pero antes los pongo en contexto, aunque ya se habrán dado cuenta que tuve problemas con las cucarachas, un insecto al que le tengo terror, y que hasta mi hijo ha tenido que salvarme una que otra vez de ellas porque simplemente me paralizo.
Pues bien, si me han leído un poco sabrán que mi casa es una mezcla de jungla y vivero ya que por fuera está rodeada de mucha vegetación y dentro mi mamá tiene una buena colección de plantas ornamentales a las que suele colocar conchas de coco seco (un día les contaré su función), cosa que atrae muchísimo a estos horribles insectos que terminaban entrando por mi ventana.
El tema es que comence a notar una que otra cada tanto y por supuesto no es algo que deseemos ver en casa y mucho menos alguien que detesta las cucarachas, por lo que comencé a buscar opciones caseras pues mis dos hijos son alérgicos y la pequeña es asmática, así que los insecticidas comerciales serían mi última opción.
Y con eso en mente recurrí al que todo lo sabe... ¡Google!, quien como primera opción me mostró la milagrosa combinación de bicarbonato de sodio, agua y azúcar que prometía que en pocos días las cucarachas habrían muerto.
La verdad era algo bastante sencillo de preparar y tenía todo en casa, pero antes quise verificar con alguien que quizá ya lo hubiese usado para estar segura, por lo que recurrí a mi suegra quien no sólo lo recomendó sino que me enseñó a prepararlo. ¡Y era tan sencillo que me animé a probar de inmediato!.
Simplemente debía mezclar los tres ingredientes en cantidades iguales y formar bolitas que debía colocar en algunos lugares como rincones y gabinetes. ¡Más fácil imposible pensé!, así
que en un envase agregué dos cucharadas de bicarbonato, dos de azúcar y dos de agua, formé mis bolitas y esperé!
Y seguí esperando, y esperando y esperando algo que ¡nunca llegó! Prácticamente las estaba alimentado porque morir, lo que se dice morir, pues no!
Así que terminé pasando a los niños a otro espacio por unos días, comprando un buen insecticida y de esa manera ¡acabé con ellas!
Se suponía que el "veneno" funcionaba de la siguiente manera: en primer lugar, la función del azúcar era atraer a las cucarachas para que comieran de las bolitas y ahí entraba en acción el bicarbonato que debía hacer que estas murieran al comerlo pues es "mortal" para ellas y el agua, pues nada, simplemente servía para unir los dos productos y poder hacer las bolitas.
Pero todo esto resultó ser un fraude (por lo menos en mi caso) y tuve que acabar con ellas de la manera tradicional porque definitivamente el bicarbonato con azúcar y agua resultó ser todo ¡¡¡UN MITO!!!.
