Today I would like to share with you a new project that I am carrying out in my home, and although it is simple it will represent a great change and a relief for us, which will have an impact on our quality of life. Some time ago my youngest daughter bought an electric moped, which is as big as a motorcycle and has the same function, only it is electric and with pedals, the thing is that every time she leaves or arrives home from work we have to resort to a wooden board that we put on the entrance stairs to use it as a makeshift ramp, it is the only way she can enter the bike, so after consulting with the mason who worked on the remodeling of our bathroom I decided to build a concrete ramp to replace the stairs.
Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes un nuevo proyecto que estoy llevando a cabo en mi hogar, y aunque es sencillo representará un gran cambio y un alivio nosotros, lo que repercutirá en nuestra calidad de vida. Hace tiempo mi hija menor compró una bicimoto eléctrica, la cuál es tan grande como una moto y tiene la misma función, solo que es eléctrica y con pedales, el caso es que cada vez que ella sale o llega a la casa del trabajo tenemos que recurrir a una tabla de madera que ponemos en las escaleras de entrada para usarla como una rampa improvisada, es la única manera de que ella pueda ingresar la moto, así que después de asesorarme con el albañil que trabajó en la remodelación de nuestro baño decidí construir una rampa de concreto para reemplazar las escaleras.
I'm not finished yet, so I'm just going to show you how far I've come, and then of course I'll share with you the rest of the process until I'm done. First I started by destroying the stairs using a small heavy duty hammer that in Venezuela we call "mandarria".
No he terminado aún, así que tan solo les voy a mostrar hasta donde he avanzado, y posteriormente desde luego que voy a compartir con ustedes el resto del proceso hasta que haya terminado. En primer lugar empecé por destruir las escaleras usando un martillo pequeño para trabajo pesado que en Venezuela le decimos "mandarria"

It is really hard work to remove all the previous concrete, in fact it is the most difficult part of the whole process but obviously it is necessary to move on to the next steps. I think that with one of the bigger and heavier mandarins maybe I would have finished faster and the job would have been simpler, but I didn't have that tool, so I used the one I had, but it still helped me a lot.
De verdad que es un trabajo pesado eso de remover todo el concreto anterior, de hecho es lo más difícil de todo el proceso pero obviamente es necesario para poder avanzar con los pasos siguientes. Creo que con una mandarría de las más grandes y pesadas quizá yo habría terminado más rápido y el trabajo se hubiese simplificado más, pero yo no contaba con esa herramienta, así que utilicé la que tenía, pero aún así me sirvió de gran ayuda.
Then it was time to build a grid using thin rafters and wire to make the joints. This grid will serve as a support and will give a lot of strength and resistance to the ramp. That is why it is important to get advice from someone who really knows, because there are people who do not consider this step necessary, but the mason considers that it is necessary.
Después llegó el momento de construir una rejilla usando cabillas delgadas y alambre para hacer las uniones. Esta rejilla servirá de soporte y le dará mucha solidez y resistencia a la rampa. Por eso es importante asesorarse con alguien que sabe de verdad, porque hay personas que no consideran que este paso sea necesario, pero el albañil considera que sí

The truth is that from hitting the floor with the hammer, sawing and joining cavities with the wire I was pretty tired for today, so here I leave the work for now, but here I leave a sample of how the grid was located in place, the ramp is already taking shape as such. Of course I will show you the progress, how everything will be when I'm done but for now it's time to rest, besides the sun was at its best hehe.
La verdad es que de tanto golpear el piso con el martillo, serruchar y unir cavillas con el alambre quedé bastante cansado por hoy, así que hasta aquí dejo el trabajo por ahora, pero aquí les dejo una muestra de como quedó ubicada la rejilla en su lugar, la rampa ya va tomando forma como tal. Desde luego que les voy a mostrar los avances, como quedará todo cuando haya terminado pero por ahora toca descansar, además el sol estaba a todo lo que daba jeje.
