¡Hola a toda la comunidad de SWC! Mi nombre es Estefania y este post es una especie de introducción sobre mi, les contare brevemente cómo ha sido mi relación con la actividad física y mi imagen personal, y el porqué llegué a esta comunidad y decidí entrar. Espero les sea agradable la lectura.
Recientemente he estado debatiendo conmigo misma algo que siempre me ha tenido en un sube y baja: hacer ejercicio. Es algo que de unos años para aca empece a hacer por salud y por mejorar mi aspecto, pero que no he podido cumplir con constancia porque por un motivo u otro (generalmente por pereza) lo voy dejando hasta que, luego de un tiempo, me decido a retomarlo pero el ciclo se vuelve a repetir.
Hello to all the SWC community! My name is Estefania and this post is a kind of introduction about me, I will tell you briefly how has been my relationship with physical activity and my personal image, and why I came to this community and decided to join. I hope you enjoy reading it.
Recently I've been debating with myself about something that has always had me on a seesaw: exercising. It's something that I started doing a few years ago for health and to improve my appearance, but I have not been able to comply with constancy because for one reason or another (usually laziness) I leave it until, after a while, I decide to take it up again but the cycle repeats itself again.
Una vista al pasado
Siempre me he considerado una persona activa y con gusto por los deportes y actividades físicas, sin embargo durante toda mi adolescencia fui gordita. A pesar de que iba a clases de Karate, lo cual me gustaba mucho, no era suficiente para estar en forma y tampoco cuidaba mi alimentación.
A los 20 años me mudé a otro estado por razones de estudios y como no tenía tv ni conexión a internet donde vivía, pasaba mis ratos libres paseando al aire libre. También caminaba mucho, era lo que más hacía, y gracias a que tenía más acceso a comida sana (como vegetales y frutas) también comía mejor. Durante los años que viví ahí empecé a bajar de peso considerablemente, a un punto que cuando regrese a mi hogar definitivamente, muchas personas se quedaron sorprendidas por mi “transformación”.
A view into the past
I have always considered myself an active person with a taste for sports and physical activities, however during all my adolescence I was chubby. Although I went to Karate classes, which I really liked, it wasn't enough to be in shape and I didn't take care of my diet.
When I was 20 years old I moved to another state for study reasons and since I didn't have TV or internet connection where I lived, I spent my free time walking outdoors. I also walked a lot, it was what I did the most, and thanks to having more access to healthy food (like vegetables and fruits) I also ate better. During the years I lived there I started to lose weight considerably, to a point that when I returned home for good, many people were surprised by my "transformation".

Sin embargo había un problema, y este era que al haber bajado una cantidad considerable de peso sin más, tenía flacidez y eso no me gustaba. Así que empecé poco a poco a buscar información sobre ejercicios, entré a un par de gimnasios, pero al fin y al cabo los terminaba dejando por lo mismo que mencioné al principio. En mi búsqueda de información conseguí entrenadores con canales de YouTube y Páginas web super útiles que, luego de mucho ver y leer, me hicieron decidirme por hacer ejercicio en casa. Ha sido más o menos la misma dinámica de dejarlo y retomarlo pero esta vez estoy más decidida.
However, there was a problem, and this was that having lost a considerable amount of weight, I had flaccidity and I didn't like that. So I started little by little to look for information about exercises, I entered a couple of gyms, but in the end I ended up leaving them for the same reason I mentioned at the beginning. In my search for information I got trainers with YouTube channels and super useful websites that, after a lot of watching and reading, made me decide to exercise at home. It's been more or less the same dynamic of quitting and taking it up again but this time I'm more determined.
Volviendo a trazar el camino
Llevo un par de semanas cada vez presionandome más a mi misma de que debo retomar el entrenamiento físico. La razón no es solo vanidad, también quiero estar más sana y sentirme mejor con mi cuerpo. Es por ello que hace un par de semanas decidí empezar con el paso más sencillo; salir a caminar. Con mi trabajo actual tengo un horario de 9 am a 6 pm, y demás está decir que la actividad física que tengo es nula. Por eso acorde con mi papá el pararnos un poco más temprano cada día para caminar alrededor de 25 mins, lo que significa una vuelta a la urbanización, y comparado a 0, 25 mins ya es un progreso.
Getting back on track
I've been pushing myself more and more for a couple of weeks now that I need to get back into fitness. The reason is not just vanity, I also want to be healthier and feel better about my body. That's why a couple of weeks ago I decided to start with the easiest step; going for a walk. With my current job I have a 9 am to 6 pm schedule, and needless to say, I have zero physical activity. That's why I agreed with my dad to stop a little earlier every day to walk around 25 mins, which means a walk around the urbanization, and compared to 0, 25 mins is already a progress.
El siguiente paso me ha costado un poco más, pero estoy segura que lo lograré. Esto ha sido organizar mis rutinas de ejercicios. Al regresar del trabajo tengo un espacio amplio de tiempo que puedo aprovechar bien para hacerlo, pero no tenía nada de motivación, solo me dan ganas de echarme y no pararme para mas nada. Por ello decidí facilitarme el trabajo y buscar diferentes rutinas y ordenarlas en un documento, para que a la hora de hacer ejercicio no me detenga el buscar hasta conseguir una que me guste.
The next step has taken me a little longer, but I'm sure I'll get there. This has been to organize my exercise routines. When I come back from work I have a wide space of time that I can take good advantage of to do it, but I had no motivation at all, I just feel like lying down and not stop for anything else. That's why I decided to make my job easier and look for different routines and organize them in a document, so that when it's time to exercise I won't stop looking until I get one that I like.
Otra cosa que me pareció una excelente idea hacer fue despejar el espacio que usaba para hacer ejercicio en la casa. al igual que darle una pequeña limpieza a mis materiales. El lugar que utilizo es el patio de la casa o lavandero, como todo patio está lleno de herramientas, implementos de limpieza, cachivaches, etc. Organicé todo lo mejor que pude, barrí la suciedad y limpié el piso. Seguidamente hice lo mismo con los materiales, los cuales son:
- 2 mancuernas de 4 kg cada una
- 2 mancuernas de aprox. 1 kg cada una
- Botellas con agua
- Un bolso con libros y más botellas de agua
Como ya llevaban un tiempito por allí pues no daban muchas ganas de usarlos así, por lo que el haberlos limpiado les da una vista nueva y ahora sí que provoca agarrarlos!
Another thing that I thought was an excellent idea to do was to clear the space I used to exercise in the house, as well as to give a little cleaning to my materials. The place I use is the patio of the house or laundry room, as every patio is full of tools, cleaning implements, junk, etc. I organized everything as best I could, swept up the dirt and cleaned the floor. Then I did the same with the materials, which are:
- 2 dumbbells of 4 kg each.
- 2 dumbbells of approx. 1 kg each
- Bottles with water
- A bag with books and more water bottles
As they had been lying around for a while, they didn't really feel like using them like this, so cleaning them gives them a new look and now they are a real pleasure to grab them!
Plan de acción.
Tengo planificado entrenar 6 días a la semana, ya que al haber entrenado anteriormente puedo adecuarme nuevamente a ese ritmo en poquito tiempo. Las rutinas que haré serán con mi peso corporal y los materiales que mencioné anteriormente, cosas que ya tengo en mi casa o que puedo improvisar. Mis entrenamientos favoritos son de Full Body porque honestamente me parecen excelentes, sencillos y super completos, por lo que en esta ocasión estaré alternando, unas semanas haré rutinas de Full Body y en otra dividiré el tren inferior y el tren superior, para enfocarme más en cada parte.
Mi intención es irles mostrando mi progreso y lo que voy haciendo, que ejercicios hago y como iré cambiando las rutinas a medida que avance. Pienso que será un buen incentivo para mantenerme en el camino que deseo y a la vez quizás pueda motivar a aquellos que aún no se deciden o que quizás necesitan un empujón extra de aliento para ponerse en acción!
Me alegro mucho de haber encontrado esta comunidad y poder compartir algo nuevo de mi con personas nuevas. Agradezco mucho todo el apoyo que pueda recibir, la verdad uno nunca sabe el poder de una palabra en el momento indicado, así que cualquier cosa que quieran decir dejenlo en los comentarios que estaré encantada de leerlos!
Action plan.
I plan to train 6 days a week, since having trained before I can adapt to that rhythm in a short time. The routines I will do will be with my body weight and the materials I mentioned before, things that I already have at home or that I can improvise. My favorite workouts are Full Body because honestly I find them excellent, simple and super complete, so this time I will be alternating, some weeks I will do Full Body routines and in another I will divide the lower and upper body, to focus more on each part.
My intention is to show you my progress and what I'm doing, what exercises I do and how I will change the routines as I progress. I think it will be a good incentive to keep me on the path I want and at the same time maybe I can motivate those who are still undecided or maybe need an extra push of encouragement to get into action!
I am so glad to have found this community and to be able to share something new about myself with new people.
