Hello rally fans :)!
There’s a special place in my heart for Craig Breen and everything that connects closely with him. So, logically, this will be among my favorite things I wrote about.
James Fulton (who was Craig’s last codriver) and Mike Chen are competing at the Monza Rally Show in honor of Craig Breen, driving with a special livery that pays tribute to him. This heartfelt initiative and the #ForCraig hashtag honors Craig bringing him to every single race, to do what he loved most.
If you’re not familiar with what happened the tragic date: April 13th 2023. is when our beloved Craig left us. He suffered a car crash into a wooden fence that heartbrokenly ended his life way too early. He was such an amazing person, he had so much love for this sport, he was breathing rally. I don’t know if you can compare any of the current WRC drivers with his love for rally. Even tho a year passed already it hurts the same if not more. I don’t have the words to express how grateful and happy I am to have been able to talk to him and get advices from him. I vividly remember our conversation from 2022 when he said he should pull some strings in M-Sport to get me to be his codriver. He was so glad to see girls getting involved with rally and loving it with the same passion like him. When you were around him, when you saw him, he had this warm energy around himself. Always with a smile on his face ready to crack a joke. You must be reading this, thinking I’m insane because how can a person I met only a few times affect my life in such ways. Ever since he left it’s just an empty space in my heart and I still search for him in every rally I go. Safe to say he will live forever in our hearts and throughout all rallies❤️.
After a long time I managed to get his beanie “Breenie” that his sister Kellie is still making and distributing it to fans all around the world that want to have a piece of him.
If you still don’t believe me when I say Craig was a beautiful person inside out here’s one more thing that shows what kind of person he was. “In 2023, Craig showed his commitment to this passion by offering to provide both support and funding for the Irish J1000 Forestry Series which is aimed at 14 to 17 year olds, starting out in the sport.” After his passing The Craig Breen foundation was founded and it “aims to continue and build on the good work started by Craig in developing the path into top level rallying for young Irish competitors, while honouring his memory.” Meaning that most if not all of the profits go towards supporting young talented drivers that want to succeed in this sport.
That is the reason Craig was loved enormously. For his big heart❤️.
Hyundai runs a special livery during Croatia rally since that is the event where Craig tragically lost his life (well pre-event testing). But this livery is even more special, it’s inspired by Craig’s Irish roots and his beautiful personality, and it is a perfect tribute to a driver who left a huge mark on the sport. Craig who was known for his passion and kind heart, continues to inspire fans and competitors all over the world. His co-driver, James Fulton, has been particularly active in honoring his friend, and this rally is a testament to the bond they shared.
Mike Chen, a well-known WRC broadcaster, joins Fulton in this rally, emphasizing how Craig touched the lives of everyone in the rallying world.
The Monza Rally Show has been a celebration of motorsport, and this year’s event holds big significance with this tribute. As they compete, Fulton and Chen not only represent their skills but also the spirit of Craig Breen, ensuring that his memory continues to inspire the rallying community.
Here’s some videos that will make you understand just how special Craig was, including the beautiful tribute made by WRC.
