There is a quote by J.R.R. Tolkien that I think pretty much everyone has heard:
'Not all those who wander, are lost.'
I find myself wandering more of my waking hours, than not. Sometimes I do feel lost, however.
What is my purpose here? Who am I helping? What's the point?
These are questions that, prior to the past 2 years, were leading me to a very dark place.
Oddly, my job out in the middle of all the nonsense of this pandemic brought me to a place I never thought I'd find.
Peace
A place I felt comfortable with who I was. A place where I didn't have to make excuses for the things I believed.
It opened me up to finding my spirituality. The guidance I had been lacking. Or rather I had been ignoring.
But it's always there. Guidance. Help. Security.
Once I returned to a place of accepting that spirituality was whatever helped me to not feel lost, I was able to feel at peace and answer those questions. Those questions that can make one feel lost.
Now I am free to wander, without the feeling of being lost. I am free to experiment with what guides me to happiness.
Today I start a 30 day practice with my Runes. It's gonna be fun, enlightening and helpful, I hope.
Today I drew the Ansuz (AWN-sooz). It's meaning is 'signals' and it corresponds to the letter 'A'.
How funny!? My first day and I draw the tile corresponding with first letter of the alphabet! If I draw them in order...THAT would be something!
Back to today...signals. What does it mean?
Well, to you, maybe nothing. On the surface...probably still nothing. But I drew it after asking 'What do I need to focus on today?' as that was the prompt in my 30 day workbook.
Still nothing?
The last piece of this puzzle is what I was thinking as I went to bed last night.
I am very big on signs and believing that the universe (god, spirit, the divine...insert your chosen belief here) gives clues to lead us in the right direction.
To be sure that 'not all those who wander are lost'!
Last night before falling asleep I meditated on the thought/promise/intent to stop ignoring the signs. To look closer and heed any moments I felt may be a sign I should pay closer attention to.
We all need guidance, but it is up to us to find the proper source and our most meaningful way of accepting it. Most of all we must remember not to make excuses for these beliefs!
