I've been a delivery person for years, and I've stumbled across a few of these. It's a simple gesture, yet I'll admit it made me smile. As a delivery person I'm always rushing around trying to stay within my delivery times. Half the time I'm lost in the process. So a simple gesture like this makes a huge impact.
Granted that I do my best to complete each delivery to the best of my ability. Though I will admit that when a customer goes out of their way to show their appreciation, I can't help but want to go there extra mile for them. It's just human nature. When I feel appreciated, I can't help but care that much more.
So many things can go wrong while delivering, and many times it's not in my control. So a simple act of appreciation might be exactly what I needed, at that moment, to realign my attitude. There's no telling the impact this simple act could have not only for me but for someone else. I'd love to see this practice become more widespread.
