Pleasant greetings friends, from all over Hive. Hope you're doing well and making the most of the weekend? I'm excited to have you visit my blog again. Warm welcome.
You know this thing about giving compliments and how they create ripple effects in several ways. A few words of compliments can help add color to someone's life, brighten their day, make them feel more confident and valued.
So yesterday, while waiting in the vehicle outside my office, I noticed a young lady walking towards us, and there was something about her that caught my attention. Gosh! She had an undeniable aura about her - the kind that screams confidence, elegance and poise. As she approached us, I couldn't resist the urge to call out to her, and she answered without hesitation. I complimented her on her looks and asked if she was a model. Beaming a beautiful smile, she politely said no.
Now, I was the one surprised because, girl!, she had the qualities that could make her a great model. So, I probed further, asking if she had ever considered going into modeling, maybe as a career, but she said it wasn't something she was interested in, and that she was content with where she was in life.
I was impressed with her calm and confident response - a pointer to her being a self-assured individual, and this increased my admiration for her.
Although I felt compelled to let her know that she might be wasting her potential, I let it slide, and decided to respect her decision and values. That's the least I could do.
She thanked me for the kind words I shared with her and went on her way.
It was a lovely interaction which brought back fond memories.
I remembered while growing up, I loved watching fashion shows and would often turn our parlor into a runway. Hehehe. Seeing how the models gracefully and confidently stride down the catwalk and wowing the audience with their unique poses, often made me fantasize about becoming a top model, touring the world, and smashing it on the runways.
Well, I did smash it, but only there at our parlor. It is what it is. Lol. However, those early inspirations have stayed with me, influencing my own confidence and poise.
So it was wonderful to see someone else embodying those same qualities - well, I've seen a couple of them, and I was happy to offer my compliments. I'm equally grateful for the chance encounter that allowed me to relive some fond memories.
What was your childhood dreams? Are you living it now? I'd love to read from you
