"There's no shortcut to success", so it's said. However,
There are valuable tips that can propel or create direct route to success.
As I thought about this concept, I recalled a folk tale where one animal asked his young ones the number of times it would take them to learn a lesson from their ugly experiences or mistakes. Answering the questions, the most senior one said he would have to make mistakes up to five times before he can learn a lesson. Another one said twice. However, the younger one said that he wouldn't need to make mistakes or have ugly experiences before he learns; rather, he will learn from that of others. Hearing his reply, the father commended him on his level of wisdom and intelligence.
This tale highlights that one doesn't necessarily need to make mistakes or go through ugly experiences to learn from them. I'm not suggesting that having such experiences is unnecessary – it's often said that experience is the best teacher. However, why wait to make mistakes before learning the lessons when many others have gone through similar situations and made the same mistakes that you can learn from? Some people, like the first child, might need to learn through repeated mistakes, but others can learn from the experiences of others.
Someone might say "it's easier said than done." I quite agree, life can happen, leading one into making mistakes. Even so, the individual should have learned from that mistake and moved on, and not to capitalize on that situation to continue making same mistakes over and over again. Doing so might portray such an individual as one who lacks wisdom and self control.
Imagine someone who's a habitual spendthrift and ends up in debt. The first time it happens, they might say, "I'll be careful not to let this happen again."
But that was just mere words because they didn't take any step into changing their financial habits, rather, they continued to overspend and accumulate debt repeatedly, even when they might be aware of the consequences of overspending. If this isn't lack of wisdom and self-control, then I wonder what is.
As earlier stated, mistakes can happen, however, it's essential to learn from them and make changes to avoid repeating the same mistakes. This is essential for growth. It's even more beneficial to learn from others' experiences to avoid making unnecessary mistakes.
Yes, avoiding unnecessary mistakes by learning from others' experience can save one the time they would have invested while trying to learn from their own experiences. Again, it can help one avoid making costly or harmful mistakes.
Not only that, one can gain valuable insights and wisdom which can inform their decisions and help them make better choices, in every aspect of their life, leading to accelerated progress and growth.
