About this image: I shot this one on 26th of July, 2025. I was on business trip in Szczecin city of Poland. Now why the directions? Well this language is totally unknown to me and by the visual the post guides for directions to go… It is still meaningful to me because I am trying to shift my mindset into more uncertainty covered waters from which I am sharing an example of my perception in the post below. So I am trying to expand my borders by shifting/improving my mindset by the help of novice daily efforts.
Over the past few months, I’ve been working on shifting my perspective on the daily struggles I face. Instead of viewing them as obstacles, I now see them as steps to climb higher. This mindset shift has been especially important since I transitioned my career from a technical role, where I mostly dealt with equipment, to a position that involves a lot more interpersonal communication.
At first, the change was a bit daunting. I was used to the predictability of machines, and now I had to navigate human emotions and varying moods. There were times when a colleague’s response would seem off, and I’d take it personally. I’d think it was about me, which would make the situation more stressful.
However, I began to realize that their reactions had little to do with me and more to do with their own day, their own stress, or just their personality. This realization was liberating. It allowed me to not take things personally and instead focus on my own response.
For example, if a colleague responds to me in a less-than-friendly tone, I remind myself it’s not about me. I use it as an opportunity to practice emotional regulation. Instead of reacting with frustration, I try to stay calm and keep the conversation focused on the task at hand. It’s a small change, but it makes a big difference in my overall stress levels.
This approach has also helped me become more empathetic. I find myself wondering what might be going on in their lives and how I can be a more positive presence. It’s a win-win because it helps me grow and also creates a healthier work environment.
It’s not always easy, of course. There are days when it feels like a lot of effort. But the more I practice this mindset, the more natural it becomes. I’d encourage anyone feeling stuck in a cycle of frustration to try this reframing technique. It’s a small shift, but it can lead to a much more peaceful and productive day.
All the best…
