This is why I don't like borrowing people money or lending because it's always frustrating when you need your money back. It's been two months now since I lent this woman my money, and she promised to pay back that same week, but it's now going to two months. The most painful part is that she's not even saying anything about the money or mentioning it. I have a problem not knowing how to ask for my money from the borrower; I don't even know how to approach her. And she's a salary earner; she has received two months' salary since the time she borrowed money from me. I'm just praying that God touches her heart so she can return my money.
This isn't the first time I've lent people money, and they refused to pay back on the agreed date. One time, I had to start explaining to one of my friends why I needed my money back. It's so frustrating because people need to know that the people they borrowed money from also need it. They borrowed you because they thought the borrower needed it more than the lender at that particular time, and there's an agreed date to pay back. Not paying back on that day won't sit well with the person who lent the money. The delay can affect the lender financial plan as well.
And that is one thing I don't do, one time, I'm in need of money, I borrow from a friend and promise to pay back on a specific date. But I was unable to get the money by then, I have to download a loan app and borrowed from it and return my friend money because I don't want to disappoint, I later pay back the loan app with interest because I want to keep the promise. Some people aren't like that; they prefer to narrate their life history, making it seem like they're the only ones who need money. Everyone needs money, not just the borrower. When you borrow money, try to pay back on the agreed day. But if you're unable to pay back on the agreed date, try to explain to the person in a polite manner and assure them you'll pay back. That gives the lender assurance that you're thinking about them and will pay back instead of ghosting them and pretending you don't own money. Lending and borrowing can be challenging, some time it's not just about the money , it's also about keeping promises and respecting commitments.
We can do better. I just hope this woman pays me my money this week because I need my money too. When we borrow money, we're not just borrowing the principal amount; we're also borrowing the lender's trust and goodwill. Repaying on time shows that we respect the lender's needs and priorities, and it helps to strengthen our relationships. On the other hand, delayed repayment can lead to strained relationships, damaged credit, and a loss of trust. By prioritizing timely repayment, we can build a reputation for being reliable and responsible, and we can maintain strong relationships with our lenders.
