Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is from Hivestudents, which says: A Day in the life of a student, so let's dive in.
Being a student is not easy at all. Some days can be fun, while other days can be tiring and stressful. So let me share how my typical day looks like, both in school and at home.
I wake up around 5:30 AM every morning. Sometimes I don’t even want to get up because I’ll still be weak and tired from the schoolwork of the previous day. But I have to, if I don’t want to be late for lectures. After waking up, my brother and I do our morning devotion because it's important to put God first, after that, I tidy my room, brush my teeth, take my bath, dress up, and get ready for school. Sometimes if there’s food, I eat, but if not, I just drink water and start going.

By 6:30 AM, I’m already on my way to school because my lectures always start by 7:00 AM. I always try to go early so I can find a place to sit, because if I don’t, I may end up standing throughout the class because we're too many in my department and the other reason I go to school early is because of attendance, if we students don't have up to 75% attendance, it can affect our exam. Sometimes, some lecturers even come earlier and start lecturing without waiting for the remaining students. And if we arrive even just 10 minutes late, we won’t be allowed to enter the class. They don’t care whether we’re coming from far or not.
Some days, I will have two lectures from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM or 12:00 PM. Other days, I will have four lectures from 7:00 AM till 4:00 or 5:00 PM. Those days are the worst. We sit in class for hours, writing notes back-to-back. Before one lecture ends, the next lecturer is already waiting outside to enter. If there’s a break between lectures, I sometimes hang out with my friends. We find a spot on campus to gist, watch movies, or just relax. Other times, I stay alone, not talking to anyone including my friends, just watching movies or sleeping while waiting for the next class.

After lectures, around 3:00 or 4:00 PM, because I don’t like staying back on campus. So once I’m done with lectures, I take a shuttle straight back home because I don’t stay in the hostel, I live off-campus. When I get home, the first thing on my mind is food. I live with my brother, but we have separate rooms in the same compound. So most times, I cook for both of us or he cooks before I get home. But if we both return home very tired and late, we just buy bread or drink garri (cassava flakes) with sugar and groundnut. After eating, I try to rest a bit, but there’s always work to do — assignments, copying notes, or preparing for tests. Life as a student is not easy at all. Even resting can be hard sometimes.
By 8:00 PM, we pray, and around 10:00 PM, I either read or watch a movie. Then by 12:00 AM, I sleep so I can wake up early for the next day’s class. Like I said, I don’t live in the hostel, but where I live is a student area, it’s very noisy most times.
In conclusion, my typical day as a student looks like this:
(1) Waking up early and getting ready for school
(2) Bathing and rushing to school so I won’t be late
(3) Sitting through long hours of lectures without rest
(4) Going back home to cook, eat, do assignments, or read
(5) Sleeping late at night and repeating the same thing the next day.
Honestly, it’s not easy. But as a student, I have to endure it. But I know, One day, I will graduate and be free from all these school struggles. For now, I just have to keep pushing so that all my efforts won’t be wasted.
