We all know that examinations are a crucial part of academic life. Whether it is nursery or secondary or tertiary level examination. Whichever it is, staying motivated throughout the exam period has always been challenging to me, due to stress, distractions, and pressure. But with the right manner, I always overcome.
Here are some ways I keep myself motivated during exams.
First, I create a structured study plan: I check my time table and share a number of days for a particular course and paste it somewhere on the wall of my house.
A well-organized timetable helps me manage my time effectively. I allocate more time to difficult subjects while ensuring I cover all topics. I include short breaks of 5–10 minutes after every hour to avoid burnout. I also do night studies if I can't catch up with the stipulated time I gave myself in the day.
After that, I break my syllabus into smaller sections. For example, instead of saying, "I will study Chemistry today," I specify, "I will cover Organic Chemistry reactions and practice 10 past questions." Achieving these small goals gives a sense of progress and keep me motivated.
I also try as much as possible to stay positive and avoid negative thoughts. This helps me kill self-doubt and fuel motivation. I encourage myself with words like "I can do this", "I am prepared and will do my best." I surround myself with positive-minded friends or study groups that encourage me. I as well remind yourself why passing the exam matters, whether it’s securing a scholarship, or making your family proud.
One other thing I also do is eliminate distractions like social media, TV, and unnecessary phone use. These things can really waste valuable study time. I find a quiet place either in the library or an empty classroom, a spot at home where i can concentrate.
I've noticed that a tired mind can’t retain information. So I ensure i sleep well eat well and mnage axam stress. It’s normal to feel anxious, but I don't let it overwhelm me.
As the saying goes, "Success is the sum of small efforts repeated daily." I believe in myself, stay consistent, and give it my best shot. These strategies have always worked out for me right from time and I still stick to it even till now.
