During the examination period when I was in school, it used to be hell for most of us due to the loads of books we had to read and understand within a short period, especially for courses that weren’t thoroughly taught. It's usually during the examination period that we turn it into a do-or-die affair to force every detail of the course into our brains.
I didn’t fret or fall sick like most people do whenever it's an exam period; my only issue was that I did a lot during that season just to make sure I covered everything I needed to before the examination day. Sometimes, I would be inside my house and no one would know I was around. I just liked to lock up the door and stay away from people so I could have enough time to concentrate fully on my studies.
During the exam period or when exams were approaching, the way I intensified my study lifestyle was strange. It would feel like I was writing the final exam of life, and I wouldn’t want to fail anything or get a low score. I didn’t just study to pass the exam but also to come out with flying colours, such as scoring a pass mark of 80% and above. Most of the time, I didn’t get to 80%, but I would get close because most of the subjects in my field were very tough to understand, at least from our perspective as students.
I always enrolled in tutorial classes where some seniors ahead of us, who understood the subject very well, taught us the basics of the difficult courses. The tutorials helped me a lot because we focused on important areas that the exams were likely to cover. It was always sweet going into the exam hall and meeting questions one already knew how to answer or at least had an idea of how to go about solving, especially the calculation-based courses.
Thanks!
