It is time that I say "hello" again to the wonderful world of Hive! Six months have passed since my original introductory post. And in that time Calendula Craft, the intent of this blog, and what I wish to share here have changed so much! I wanted to clarify and give a little background as to what those changes are and why.
Hello!
I am Chloe and although this account states I have been a member of Hive just since June of this year, I have actually been an active member via my other account Libra.Gardener since 2020! For a few months now I have been operating both and posting in different communities respectively. Originally Calendula Craft was created to reflect the more creative aspects of my sewing & mending business. Libra.Gardener has always been about gardening.
At the time keeping my two worlds separate made sense to me. But there was always the question of where to present this other aspect of my life and work as an herbalist and mystic. I have been so torn on which account to post under. As I continued sharing and tried to work this out, it got more & more confusing. Ultimately I have decided to move forward posting mainly under this name Calendula Craft which is also the name of my online business.
Herbalism and mysticism are my crafts just as much as sewing and writing are. It seems right to unite all these aspects of my work under one name.
When I wrote that original introductory post I was feeling very shy about sharing personal details. In general I would rather people pay attention to the crafts I make rather than the crafter making them. During the course of writing and sharing my creations here I have noticed that posts have much more interactions and votes if I actually appear in the photos. And maybe you are wondering a bit about me beyond the crafts I create.
Well, here are some fun facts:
Bilbo, Frodo Baggins, and myself all share the same birthday.
Originally I was born on the west coast, USA and have live in Latin America since 2016 woofing & traveling around, and since 2019 sedentary on a farm in the mountains of Argentina with my partner, three cats, and our garden. Each year I spend a month or two in my homelands of California, some of these images were taken there.
Nostalgia is a big part of my self care and I am currently re-watching "Gilmore Girls" from start to finish, one episode a day. And I also enjoy re-reading favorite books from my childhood like "D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths" and "Little Women".
Living so far away from home and family can be hard at times, though I appreciate the adventure of being a foreigner. In order to keep homesick at bay I love to quilt and make other crafts that my sister, mother, and ancestors have passed down to me.
That is all for now and I thank you for reading through my little re-introduction. If you had been following me over on Libra.Gardener I hope this cleared things up, and if not (if this is the first time we are meeting) nice to meet you!!
