Hello #skinandbodycare friends, today I'm here to tell you about my experience with the new styling cream just launched by Garnier. The product's name is Hair food cocoa butter - Curl restoration. It is specially designed for curls and is compatible with the Curly Girl Method. This product left me a little bit divided on whether I liked it or not, as it has several little things that I liked, however, I also have some negative details that I want to share with you. If there is one thing I can tell you is that I don't think I will buy it again.

As I told you in a previous post, I was very excited to try the new mask from the same cocoa butter line, and in my excitement, I thought it would also work as a styling cream, since most of Garnier's masks can also be used for that purpose. But, how wrong I was, so I had to buy this cream separately, luckily, Garnier in their infinite wisdom (and desire to sell more), brought out the two products at the same time, so on the same day I bought both.
From the first use, I was pleased with the results on my wavy hair. My waves were well defined and looked spectacularly shiny. However, that would be temporary and only for the first few applications, as my hair has an unruly spirit and this cream proved to be quite heavy on it. So I ended up with slightly greasy hair, and believe me, that wasn't the look I was going for, plus over time it lost its waviness. So I had to find a way to solve this problem because the product was practically brand new and of course I wasn't going to get rid of it.
Due to the heavy and greasy feeling I experienced, I had to resort to deep washes once a month to keep my hair clean and fresh, this is something that in some CGM variants is recommended when using "dirty" products or the hair becomes saturated, the latter was my case. I know it's not ideal to have to do it so often as it can tend to dry out the hair, but as I said earlier, I wasn't willing to throw a practically full product in the bin. This solved the situation somewhat, however, every time the deep wash approached, my hair was in a terrible state.
Normally, when a product is heavy for my hair type, I dilute it to avoid that heavy feeling. However, with this cream, that wasn't possible, as a rather peculiar feature of this cream (which I didn't like) is that it's very liquidy. Yes, despite falling so heavy on the hair, its consistency is quite watery, which made it impossible to dilute it, although now that I think about it I could have done it and applied it with a spray bottle (noted to try it later). But well, I couldn't think of such a solution at the time, so I had to find another way to solve it.
After trying several things that didn't work, I turned to the infallible solution, using a very small amount of product. Yes, that's right, although its liquid consistency can be a drawback, I managed to compensate by using a small amount on each application, about the size of a pea on each half of the hair. That worked perfectly, and best of all, it made the cream last longer than expected. A win in the midst of the cons.
Mind you, I have to admit that it took me some time to get used to this cream and find the right amount for my hair. It was a trial and error process, but once I found the right amount, the results were just great. Another aspect I want to highlight is the scent of this cream. I personally like it, but I must warn you that it is a bit intense. For someone sensitive to strong smells, this product may not be the most suitable.
Overall and in the long run, the product has left me satisfied, I did have to deal with the heaviness and greasy feeling in my hair, however, with monthly deep washes and applying a very small amount I have been able to lessen this. Although I have found a way to make it work, I would only recommend this cream to those with curly hair who do not easily become saturated and are willing to adapt to its many quirks.
I hope you find my experience with this styling cream helpful. And remember that every hair is unique, so what works for me may not work for you. However, it's always good to experiment and find out which products suit our needs best, one day we'll discover the perfect product for us.
Una nueva crema para peinar - Restauración rizos de Garnier
Hola, amigos de #skinandbodycare el día de hoy vengo a contarles cómo mi experiencia con la nueva crema para peinar que acaba de lanzar Garnier. El nombre del producto es Hair food manteca de cacao - Restauración rizos. Está diseñada especialmente para los rizos y es compatible con el Método Curly Girl. Este producto me dejó un poco dividida sobre si me gustaba o no, ya que tiene varias cositas que me gustaron, sin embargo, también tengo algunos detalles negativos que quiero compartir con ustedes. Si hay algo que puedo adelantarles es que no creo que vuelva a comprarla.
Como les conté en una publicación anterior, me encontraba muy emocionada por probar la nueva mascarilla de la misma línea de manteca de cacao, y en mi entusiasmo, pensé que también funcionaría como crema para peinar, ya que la mayoría de las mascarillas de Garnier también pueden ser usadas para ese propósito. Pero, ¡Qué equivocada estaba!, así que tuve que comprar esta crema por separado, por suerte, Garnier en su infinita sabiduría (y ganas de vender más), sacó los dos productos a la par, así que el mismo día compré las dos cosas.
Desde el primer uso, quedé complacida con los resultados en mi cabello ondulado. Mis ondas estaban bien definidas y lucían un brillo espectacular. Sin embargo, eso sería algo temporal y solo en las primeras aplicaciones, ya que mi cabello tiene un espíritu rebelde y esta crema resultó ser bastante pesada para él. Por lo que terminé con un cabello ligeramente grasoso, y créanme, ese no era el look que buscaba, además de que con el tiempo fue perdiendo lo ondulado. Así que tuve que buscar la forma de solucionar este inconveniente porque el producto estaba prácticamente nuevo y por supuesto que no me iba a deshacer de él.
Debido a la sensación de pesadez y grasa que experimenté, tuve que recurrir a lavados profundos una vez al mes para mantener mi cabello limpio y fresco, esto es algo que en algunas variantes del CGM se recomienda cuando se utilizan productos "sucios" o el cabello se satura, este último fue mi caso. Sé que no es lo ideal tener que hacerlo con tanta frecuencia, ya que puede tender a resecar el cabello, pero como dije anteriormente, no estaba dispuesta a tirar un producto prácticamente lleno a la basura. Esto solucionó un poco la situación, sin embargo, cada vez que se acercaba el lavado profundo, mi cabello se encontraba en un estado terrible.
Normalmente, cuando un producto es pesado para mi tipo de cabello, lo diluyo para evitar esa sensación de pesadez. Sin embargo, con esta crema, eso no fue posible, ya que una característica bastante peculiar de esta crema (que no me gustó) es que es muy líquida. Sí, a pesar de caerle tan pesada al cabello, su consistencia es bastante acuosa, lo cual hizo imposible diluirla, aunque ahora que lo pienso pude haberlo hecho y aplicarla con un atomizador (anotado para probarlo después). Pero bueno, en ese momento no se me ocurrió dicha solución, así que tuve que buscar otra forma de solucionarlo.
Después de probar varias cosas que no funcionaron, acudí a la solución infalible, usar muy poca cantidad de producto. Sí, así es. Aunque su consistencia líquida puede ser un inconveniente, logré compensarlo utilizando una pequeña cantidad en cada aplicación, casi del tamaño de un guisante en cada mitad del cabello. Eso funcionó a la perfección, y lo mejor de todo, hizo que la crema me durara más de lo previsto. Una victoria en medio de los contras.
Eso sí, tengo que admitir que me tomó algo de tiempo acostumbrarme a esta crema y encontrar la cantidad adecuada para mi cabello. Fue un proceso de prueba y error, pero una vez que di con la cantidad correcta, los resultados fueron simplemente geniales. Otro aspecto que quiero destacar es el aroma de esta crema. A mí personalmente me gusta, pero debo advertirles que es un poco intenso. Para alguien sensible a los olores fuertes, es posible que este producto no sea el más adecuado.
En líneas generales y muy a la larga, el producto me ha dejado satisfecha, sí tuve que lidiar con la pesadez y la sensación grasosa en mi cabello, sin embargo, con los lavados profundos mensuales y aplicando muy poca cantidad he podido disminuir esto. A pesar de que he encontrado la forma de hacerla funcionar, solamente recomendaría esta crema a aquellos con cabello rizado que no se sature fácilmente y estén dispuestos a adaptarse a sus numerosas peculiaridades.
Espero que mi experiencia con esta crema para peinar les sea útil. Y recuerden que cada cabello es único, así que lo que funciona para mí puede no funcionar para ustedes. Sin embargo, siempre es bueno experimentar y descubrir qué productos se adaptan mejor a nuestras necesidades, en una de esas descubrimos el producto perfecto para nosotros.
