Hablemos de Autismo: Dermatitis - Parte II [ESP-ENG]

Hace algún tiempo les hablé sobre la otra cara del autismo y toqué el tema de la dermatitis que estaba sufriendo mi segunda hija Amelie. Hoy, en hablemos de Autismo les contaré algunas actualizaciones sobre este tema.

Amelie estuvo luchando con una dermatitis en la zona del pañal fuerte, tanto así que este hongo no se iba por nada, se calmaba con algunas cremas, que por cierto fueron bastantes costosas, pero volvía y volvía, sin terminarse de ir por completo, lo cual era bastante frustrante.

La llevamos con una de las mejores doctoras de la ciudad, recomendada por otros médicos, le hicimos los exámenes que ella mandó y cumplimos el tratamiento, en esto se invirtió (ya que es salud y no es gasto), aproximadamente unos $500 y sí, hubo mejoría y bastante, pero el hongo volvió a la misma zona y algunas veces más fuerte que otras.

Some time ago I told you about the other side of autism and touched on the dermatitis that my second daughter Amelie was suffering from. Today, in Let's talk about Autism I will tell you some updates on this topic.

Amelie was struggling with a bad nappy rash, so much so that this fungus wouldn't go away for nothing, it would calm down with some creams, which by the way were quite expensive, but it would come back and back, without ever going away completely, which was quite frustrating.

We took her to one of the best doctors in the city, recommended by other doctors, we did the tests she ordered and we carried out the treatment. We invested approximately $500 in this (since it is health and not an expense) and yes, there was improvement and quite a lot, but the fungus returned to the same area and sometimes stronger than others.

Luego, ya no era solo Amelie la que sufría de esta dermatitis, ahora también la tenía Joaquín y en su caso era peor, ya que como él usa boxer y shorts, se rascaba cuando yo no lo tenía bajo vigilancia, al punto de sacarse sangre y hacerse marcas, esto era algo que realmente me hacía llorar 😓, que terrible que por más cremas, medicamentos, gastos en citas médicas, mis niños aún siguieran sufriendo de esta dermatitis y por nada se iba.

La Dermatóloga les envió unas cremas, estás debían mezclarse y eran tan fuertes que les ponía la parte de la piel donde era aplicada más blanca de lo normal, ya que daña la capa protectora de piel y por ende además de esas cremas tenía que utilizar una crema restauradora para recuperar la piel afectada.

Todo funcionó, parecía haber desaparecido por completo la dermatitis, pero de un día para otro y súper rápido, de nuevo se les había desarrollado, ya para este tiempo mis niveles de estrés no eran normal, ademas se avecinaba el invierno y aquí no es normal, ya que es la época más caliente del año, generando un calor húmedo y esto solo empeoraría todo.

Then, it was no longer only Amelie who suffered from this dermatitis, now Joaquín also had it and in his case it was worse, as he wears boxer shorts and shorts, he would scratch himself when I didn't have him under surveillance, to the point of drawing blood and making marks, this was something that really made me cry 😓, how terrible that for more creams, medicines, expenses in medical appointments, my children still continued to suffer from this dermatitis and for nothing it would go away.

The Dermatologist sent them some creams, they had to be mixed and they were so strong that they made the part of the skin where they were applied whiter than normal, as it damages the protective layer of skin and therefore in addition to these creams I had to use a restoring cream to recover the affected skin.

Everything worked, the dermatitis seemed to have disappeared completely, but from one day to the next and very quickly, it had developed again, by this time my stress levels were not normal, besides winter was approaching and here it is not normal, as it is the hottest time of the year, generating a humid heat and this would only make everything worse.

En mi desesperación le conté a @liveofdalla sobre todo este tema y mi preocupación ante el cambio climático, ya que aunque estaba, la teníamos controlada, pero tenía miedo de que se pusiera peor de lo que ya había visto y sabía que no podía gastar lo mismo en cremas, pues $140 no sé consiguen aquí tan rápido. Para quienes no saben ella es Médico y bueno, consultó con una colega de ella pediatra y me enviaron una crema milagrosa.

Me dijeron que les aplicara Baycuten crema por 5 días, máximo 7 días, dos veces al día (cada 12 horas), sobre la zona afectada. ¿Adivinen? En Amelie a los 4 días ya casi no había hongo y a Joaquín si se le desapareció con más tiempo y luego con la crema cicatrizante y reparadora pude hacer que su piel se recuperara, al punto de que provoca besar sus nalguitas de bebé.

They told me to apply Baycuten cream for 5 days, maximum 7 days, twice a day (every 12 hours), on the affected area. Guess what? Amelie had almost no fungus after 4 days and Joaquín's fungus disappeared with more time and then with the healing and repairing cream I was able to make his skin recover, to the point that it makes you kiss his little baby buttocks.

Y es aquí donde yo me preguntaba ¿Por qué la dermatóloga no me mandó está crema antes? ¿Acaso ella no la conoce? ¿No era mejor agotar las opciones económica, ya que esa crema solo me costó $6 y alcanzó para ambos niños, que tener que ponerme a gastar en cremas caras? En fin, no la juzgo, pero me puso a pensar bastante, ya que es una de las mejores.

La dermatitis es una lucha terrible, no le deseo esto a nadie. Amelie este año cumple 8 años y por ende ese tiempo lleva usando pañal y para quienes siempre me preguntan y dicen que la haga dejar el pañal: ¿Realmente ustedes creen que yo no quiero eso? Me ahorraría dinero en pañales y cremas, pero Amelie es no verbal, no tiene un horario fijo para hacer sus necesidades y me toca seguir con ella en esto.

Por otra parte ya Joaquín está en proceso de adaptación, él está sentándose en el baño, le gusta y aunque aún no ha hecho nada, yo sé que en su caso, pronto dejará el pañal y esto será un alivio para sus pompis y para nuestros bolsillos.

And this is where I asked myself, why didn't the dermatologist send me this cream before, didn't she know about it, wasn't it better to exhaust the economic options, since this cream only cost me $6 and was enough for both children, than to have to spend on expensive creams? Anyway, I'm not judging her, but it got me thinking a lot, as she is one of the best.

Dermatitis is a terrible struggle, I don't wish this on anyone. Amelie will be 8 years old this year and so she has been in nappies for that long and for those who always ask me and tell me to make her go nappy free: do you really think I don't want that? It would save me money on nappies and creams, but Amelie is non-verbal, she doesn't have a fixed timetable for doing her needs and I have to go along with her on this.

On the other hand Joaquín is already in the process of adapting, he is sitting on the toilet, he likes it and although he hasn't done anything yet, I know that in his case, he will soon be out of nappies and this will be a relief for his tummy and for our pockets.
