Upland heißt Washington D.C. willkommen! Der neue City-Release bringt legendäre Wahrzeichen und Immobilien
Am 24. April 2024 wurde Washington D.C., die Hauptstadt der Vereinigten Staaten, in Upland zum Minten freigegeben. Dies ist ein bedeutender Meilenstein für das Spiel, der von vielen Spielern schon seit langem mit Spannung erwartet wurde. Washington D.C. ist nach Buenos Aires, London, Berlin und Tokio nun die fünfte Hauptstadt im Spiel und gliedert sich ein in die immer länger werdende Liste an virtuellen Städten und Metropolen auf aktuell 4 Kontinenten innerhalb des Upland Metaversums.
Die Veröffentlichung von Washington D.C. war ein Non-FSA-Release, was bedeutet, dass die Stadt nicht als Einstiegspunkt für neue Spieler gedacht ist. Wer neu in Upland beginnt, ist gut beraten, eine Starter-Stadt zu wählen, in der hauptsächlich günstige Grundstücke verfügbar sind. Vor kurzem wurde etwa die Stadt Stockton in Upland integriert, die zum Großteil aus FSA-Properties besteht. FSA (Fair State Act) Properties sind Grundstücke, die besonders günstig sind und nur von Spielern gemintet werden können, deren Nettovermögen im Spiel 100.000 UPX (das ist die Währung in Upland) noch nicht übersteigt.

Upland wächst und wächst! Das Wichtigste im Überblick
Allgemein wird bei den City-Releases und Expansionen immer wieder herumgeschraubt. Insbesondere seit dem Miami Release hat sich viel geändert. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die Mint-Pässe und stadtspezifische Gebäude.
Mint-Pässe sind aktuell bei größeren Releases und Expansionen in limitierter Auflage erhältlich. Jeder Pass berechtigt den Inhaber innerhalb eines gewissen Zeitfensters ein reserviertes Grundstück zu minten. Eine Anreise in die jeweilige Stadt ist zwar weiterhin Voraussetzung, allerdings erhöht das die zeitliche Flexibilität, da man nicht an den genauen Termin des jeweiligen Releases oder der Expansion gebunden ist. Wird das reservierte Grundstück nicht rechtzeitig gemintet, verfällt die Reservierung.
Stadtpezifische Architektur gibt es schon seit geraumer Zeit, allerdings kommen inzwischen bei fast jedem Release oder fast jeder Expansion neue Modelle hinzu. Neu ist, dass es spezielle Modelle gibt, die nur in einem bestimmten Zeitfenster errichtet werden können und zwar nur auf solchen Grundstücken, die Passinhabern vorbehalten waren und von diesen rechtzeitig gemintet wurden.
Stockton und Trenton sind als Starter-Cities in einem Doppelrelease ohne Bekanntgabe des genauen Releasedatums ins Spiel gekommen. Die beiden Städte sind speziell für Neueinsteiger vorgesehen, weil es dort sehr viele der günstigen FSA-Properties (FSA steht für Fair State Act) gibt, die nur von Spielern gemintet werden können, deren Nettovermögen im Spiel unter 100.000 UPX liegt. Auch die bedarfsorientierten Erweiterungen werden nicht vorab publiziert.
South Lake Tahoe wurde als erste nur mittels Auto erreichbare Stadt in Upland implementiert. Während zuvor Autos nur für Autorennen verwendet werden konnten, wurden sie Rechtzeitig vor diesem Release als Transportmittel implementiert. Dadurch kann nun jeder Autobesitzer direkt von Stadt zu Stadt reisen. Über Kontinente hinweg kann man grundsätzlich nicht direkt mit dem Auto reisen. Am Zielort muss zudem ein eigenes Grundstück als Parkplatz gewählt werden. Bei neue City-Releases dienen sogenannte Launchpad Properties von Upland als Parkplätze.
Das Opening von Bermuda war ganz speziell und beim Release waren nur extrem wenige Grundstücke verfügbar. Da es für den ersten April angekündigt war und der Ankündigungstext auf einen Aprilscherz hindeutete, war es bis zuletzt unklar, ob am 1. April wirklich Bermuda ins Spiel kommt. Schlussendlich kam Bermuda tatsächlich ins Spiel und alle, die von einem Aprilscherz ausgegangen waren wurden somit in den April geschickt.

Upland welcomes Washington D.C. - The new city release brings iconic landmarks and properties
On April 24, 2024, Washington D.C., the capital of the United States, was officially released for minting in Upland. This marks a significant milestone for the game, highly anticipated by many players. Washington D.C. joins Buenos Aires, London, Berlin, and Tokyo as the fifth capital city in the game, expanding the ever-growing list of virtual cities and metropolises across four continents within the Upland Metaverse by now.
The release of Washington D.C. was a Non-FSA-Release, indicating that the city is not intended as an entry point for new players. Newcomers to Upland are advised to choose a starter city where primarily affordable properties are available. Recently, the city of Stockton was introduced in Upland, largely comprising FSA-Properties. FSA (Fair Start Act) Properties are particularly inexpensive and can only be minted by players whose in-game net worth does not exceed 100,000 UPX (the in-game currency of Upland).

Upland Expands and Thrives: Key Highlights at a Glance
City releases and expansions in Upland have undergone continuous adjustments and introduced new features, especially since the Miami release. Mint passes and city-specific buildings are among the most notable additions.
Mint passes, now available in limited quantities for larger releases and expansions, provide holders with the exclusive right to mint a reserved property within a specified timeframe. While traveling to the respective city remains a prerequisite, mint passes offer increased flexibility by eliminating the need to be present for the exact release or expansion date. If the reserved property is not minted within the designated timeframe, the reservation expires.
City-specific architecture has been a feature for some time, but new models are now being introduced with almost every release or expansion. Unique to these models is the time-limited construction window, restricted to properties reserved for mint pass holders and minted within the specified timeframe.
Stockton and Trenton were introduced as starter cities in a double release without a predetermined release date. These cities are specifically designed for new players, offering an abundance of affordable FSA (Fair Start Act) properties. FSA properties are exclusive to players with an in-game net worth below 100,000 UPX. Demand-based expansions also remain unannounced prior to release.
South Lake Tahoe became the first city in Upland accessible solely by car. While cars were previously limited to auto races, they were implemented as a transportation mode just in time for this release. This enables car owners to travel directly from city to city. Cross-continental car travel is not directly possible. At the destination city, a player's own property must be selected as a parking spot. For new city releases, Upland's Launchpad Properties serve as designated parking spots.
Bermuda's opening was unique, with only a limited number of properties available at release. Announced for April 1st with hints of an April Fools' joke, it remained unclear until the last moment whether Bermuda would actually be added to the game. Ultimately, Bermuda did make its way into the game, catching those who assumed it was an April Fools' prank off guard.
