Para ponerte en contexto el fragmento que leeras a continuación, es un apartado del libro 88 peldaños del éxito, por Anxo Perez, un de mis libros favoritos y por su utilidad practica por lo cual quiero compartirlo contigo y muy seguramente estaré hablando en los próximos post. El fragmento en cuestión dice así:
NUNCA PIDAS DISCULPAS POR TU EDAD. TIENES LOS AÑOS QUE HAS VIVIDO
¿Cuántas veces has oído las siguientes frases...?:
Vamos para viejos.
Nos hacemos mayores.
Ya no somos lo que éramos.
El tiempo pasa factura.
Si tuviera veinte años menos...
Seguro que algunas incluso las has empleado. Este fragmento te va a explicar que eliminar todas ellas de tu vocabulario supone avanzar un paso más en tu ruta hacia el éxito.
En el mundo en que vivimos, la sociedad es víctima de una glorificación de la juventud que es falsa, sesgada y peligrosa. Se venden los veinte años como si fueran los propietarios de la felicidad y muchas personas lo compran, pero es incierto. Por cada ventaja de tener veinte años que la gente ve, existe una desventaja que la gente no ve. Los veinte años tienen el mismo número de ventajas y desventajas que los sesenta. La clave está en el que nos centramos.
A los veinte años se tiene un cuerpo joven y bello, pero también muchas inseguridades que hacen que estés perdido en la vida. A los sesenta te falla un poco la vista, pero tienes la experiencia para saber afrontar casi cualquier mala noticia. A los veinte no tienes grandes responsabilidades, pero no dispones de la libertad que da la independencia económica. A los sesenta no sales de fiesta toda la noche (ni lo deseas) y no tienes que luchar por tu sitio en tu grupo de amigos.
Te contaré una anécdota.
Un padre una vez dijo a su hijo que sus problemas, siendo niño, no podían ser tan grandes como los suyos, que era un adulto. El niño en ese momento, que tenía once años, sacudió la cabeza y le pidió que se sentase a su lado:
El niño preguntó:
—Papá, ¿por qué yo calzo un treinta y tres y tú un cuarenta y tres?
El padre respondió!
—Porque la talla de tu pie es la de un treinta y tres y la del mío, un cuarenta y tres.
—Pues eso mismo pasa con los problemas. Los míos son igual de grandes para mí que los tuyos para ti. Igual que el tamaño de mi zapato es lo que mi pie puede llevar, la carga de mis problemas es la que mi cuerpo puede soportar. Los míos son igual de pesados para mi edad que los tuyos para la tuya. No los subestimes.
Luego de eso el padre sonrió.
Ahora, Ese mismo error lo cometemos a diario cuando de la juventud solo vemos y solo recordamos lo positivo y minimizamos lo negativo. No se tiene una vida más fácil por el mero hecho de ser más joven. Los problemas que teníamos de niños, de adolescentes o simplemente varios años atrás, eran grandes porque nuestra capacidad de resistirlos era pequeña. La edad da sabiduría y la tranquilidad de que al final prácticamente todo se acaba resolviendo. Existen muchísimas personas viejas con veinte años y jóvenes con ochenta. No es difícil encontrar ejemplos en ambos grupos.
Cuando un chico de veinte años quema un verano tirado en el sofá o en la playa incapaz de vencer la desidia, en lugar de, buscar algún tipo de trabajo, realizar un curso online, leer un libro, o generar y poner en práctica una idea que produzca valor, está siendo un veinteañero viejo.
Cuando una señora de ochenta años se pone a aprender un nuevo idioma o a abrir un blog, está siendo una persona de 80 años joven.
Así que si olvidas todo lo anterior, quiero que recuerdes lo siguiente y lo internalices.
Primero: La juventud depende poco de la edad y mucho de la mentalidad. Si no lamentas tus años vividos, ¿por qué lamentar tu edad?
Si a los treinta años empieza tu edad productiva y a los noventa se acaba, a los sesenta aún estás en el principio de tu segunda mitad.
Segundo: Tanto si te consideras viejo como si te consideras joven, tendrás razón.
Tercero: Nunca, pero nunca, pidas disculpas por tu edad. Tienes los años que has vivido.

In the world we live in, society is victim to a glorification of youth that is false, biased and dangerous. The twenties are sold as the owners of happiness and many people buy into it, but it is untrue. For every advantage of being twenty that people see, there is a disadvantage that people don't see. The twenties have the same number of advantages and disadvantages as the sixties. The key is the one we focus on.
In your twenties you have a young and beautiful body, but also a lot of insecurities that make you lost in life. At sixty your eyesight fails you a little, but you have the experience to know how to deal with almost any bad news. In your twenties you have no great responsibilities, but you do not have the freedom that comes with financial independence. At sixty you don't party all night (nor do you want to) and you don't have to fight for your place in your group of friends.
I'll tell you an anecdote.
A father once told his son that his problems, being a child, could not be as big as his own, that he was an adult. The boy at the time, who was eleven years old, shook his head and asked him to sit next to him:

Now, we make the same mistake every day when we only see and remember the positive aspects of youth and minimize the negative ones. You don't have an easier life just because you are younger. The problems we had as children, teenagers or simply several years ago, were big because our capacity to resist them was small. Age gives wisdom and the peace of mind that in the end practically everything is solved. There are many old people in their twenties and young people in their eighties. It is not difficult to find examples in both groups.
When a twenty year old burns up a summer lying on the couch or on the beach unable to overcome idleness, instead of, looking for some kind of job, taking an online course, reading a book, or generating and implementing an idea that produces value, he is being an old twenty-something.
When an eighty year old lady sets out to learn a new language or start a blog, she is being an eighty year old.
So if you forget all of the above, I want you to remember the following and internalize it.
First: Youth depends little on age and a lot on mindset. If you don't regret your years lived, why regret your age?
If your productive age begins at thirty and ends at ninety, at sixty you are still in the beginning of your second half.
Second: Whether you consider yourself old or young, you will be right.
Third: Never, but never, apologize for your age. You have the years you have lived.
