El martes 13 de febrero del 2002 inicié la travesía de la vida. Mi nombre es María Valentina Barreto, tengo 20 años y soy de la pequeña Venecia, mi amada Venezuela, al norte de Suramérica. Quienes me conocen me llaman por Valentina o Valen, ya que en mi familia, desde mis abuelas hasta mis hermanas, todas somos Marías. Mi hermoso hogar: mi mamá, María José; mi hermana mayor, María Francia, y mi hermana menor, Mariángel -casi casi, porque mi hermana y yo intercedimos para remodelar los nombres-. Ellas me inspiran cada día a ser más esforzada y valiente.
Nací en Caracas, la capital de mi país, y crecí en un pueblito unos kilometros más arriba de allí, llamado el Junquito. Allí viví mis primeros años disfrutando del clima frío, los golfeados más ricos – de mis dulces favoritos- y las reuniones familiares. En 2009 nos mudamos a la primogénita del continente, Cumaná, la ciudad de origen de mi familia. Tierra de gente humilde y carismática, con playas hermosísimas y un gustico rico en cada dulce y comida.

Hello beautiful Hive blog community, my name is Maria Valentina Barreto, I am 20 years old and I am from little Venice, my beloved Venezuela, in the north of South America. Those who know me call me Valentina or Valen, because in my family, from my grandmothers to my sisters, we are all Marias. My beautiful home: my mother, Maria Jose; my older sister, Maria Francia, and my younger sister, Mariangel -almost another Maria, just because my sister and I interceded to change the names-. They inspire me every day to be more hardworking and courageous.
I was born in Caracas, the capital of my country, and grew up in a small town a few kilometers above there, called El Junquito. There I lived my first years enjoying the cold weather, the tastiest golfeados - one of my favorite sweets - and family gatherings. In 2009 we moved to the first-born of the continent, Cumana, my family's hometown. Land of humble and charismatic people, with beautiful beaches and a rich taste in every sweet and food.
Desde pequeña, la música, el baile, el dibujo y la composición me apasionaron. Mi sueño era ser como Hannah Montana - Disney y sus sueños jeje- : cantar en inglés, bailar y hacer música, quería inspirar a otros. Sin embargo en mi familia nadie estaba relacionado con el arte, por lo que solo me veían soñando.
Inicie en la música con el Cuatro venezolano en mi escuela. Luego ingresé al Sistema de Orquestas y Coros Juveniles e Infantiles del Edo. Sucre. Allí me incursione con la Percusión, especialmente con la Marimba y el Xilófono. Años después estuve con el Violoncello, un instrumento realmente hermoso. Un día tomé la difícil decisión de salirme para poder centrarme en la universidad y otras responsabilidades. Pero la música nunca me dejó.
A passion
Since I was a child, drawing, composing stories and poetry, and music were my passions. My dream was to be like Hannah Montana - Disney and her dreams haha- : singing in English, dancing and making music, I wanted to inspire others. However, no one in my family was related to art, so they only saw me dreaming.
I started in music with the Venezuelan Cuatro at my school. Then I joined the System of Orchestras and Youth and Children's Choirs of Sucre State. There I started with percussion, especially with the Marimba and the Xylophone. Years later I played the Cello, a truly beautiful instrument. One day I made the difficult decision to leave in order to focus on college and other responsibilities. But music never left me.
El tres en uno visual; miopía, estrabismo y astigmatismo, me brindaron un look intelectual desde los 2 años. Fui operada de ambos ojos pero perdí la operación en uno por tener el nervio atrofiado de nacimiento. El estrabismo me privo desde mi infancia muchas veces de socializar, hasta llegar en mi adolescencia al punto de hablar mirando al vacío, evadiendo las miradas. Hoy estoy superando esa inseguridad.
Inicié la universidad estudiando Ingeniería de Telecomunicaciones en la U.N.E.F.A. Dos años después me enfermé, inicialmente por el estrés; así que tomé la sugerencia de mi mamá en descansar y reconsiderar la carrera o la universidad. Hoy estudio Contaduría Pública en la Universidad de Oriente. Me alegro de la elección que hice y agradezco todo lo que me dejó la universidad anterior.
Solía hacer retratos y pancartas cada cierto tiempo para generar ingresos, nada estable, hasta que supe de la ilustración digital. Considero la ilustración digital como un buen trabajo, teniendo en cuenta el estudio y mis demás ocupaciones. Intenté iniciar pero con la decadencia de mi laptop y sin un teléfono para manejar las redes sociales, terminó resultando muy difícil.
An insecurity
The three in one vision; myopia, strabismus and astigmatism, gave me an intellectual look since I was 2 years old. I had surgery on both eyes but I lost it in one of them because of the atrophied nerve from birth. Strabismus deprived me from my childhood many times of socializing, until my adolescence to the point of talking looking into the void, avoiding glances. Today I am overcoming that insecurity.
My University Career and Some ventures
I started college studying Telecommunications Engineering at U.N.E.F.A. Two years later I got sick, initially due to stress; so I considered my mom's suggestion to rest and reconsider the career or the university. Today I study Public Accounting at the Universidad de Oriente. I am glad for the choice I made and I am grateful for all that the previous university left me.
I used to do portraits and banners every now and then to generate income, nothing stable, until I learned about digital illustration. I consider digital illustration as a good job, considering the studio and my other occupations. I tried to start but with the decay of my laptop and without a smart phone to handle social media, it ended up being very difficult.
Jesús me salvó junto a mi familia. En medio de una difícil situación familiar y la peor crisis en mi país, reconocí a Aquel que vino a salvarnos de nuestro pecado y reconciliarnos con el Padre Celestial. Gracias a su salvación hoy tenemos paz, esperanza y amor. Comparto el evangelio de Cristo con mi familia y sigo conociendo a Dios por medio de su palabra junto a otros hermanos de la fe. Hoy día, Dios me volvió a esos sueño, pero ahora, para su gloria y honra.
Una nueva melodía ha surgido, estoy iniciando en el violín y el canto. Letras para adorarle. Relatos para reflexionar. Y colores para recordar el hermoso reflejo del creador en su creación.
The Savior
Jesus saved me and my family. In the midst of a difficult family situation and the worst crisis in my country, I recognized the One who came to save us from our sin and reconcile us with the Heavenly Father. Thanks to his salvation today we have peace, hope and love. I share the gospel of Christ with my family and continue to know God through his word with other brothers and sisters in the faith. Today, God returned me to that dream, but now, for his glory and honor.
A new melody has emerged, I am starting on the violin and singing. Lyrics to worship Him. Stories to reflect. And colors to remember the beautiful reflection of the creator in his creation.

Dios ha sido bueno, y quiero compartir con ustedes entre canciones, poemas, relatos y reflexiones, la obra que hace en mi, en mi familia y en muchos otros por medio de su Hijo.
En cuanto a la música, aún me queda largo camino por recorrer. Pero me he cruzado con grandes músicos y amigos que me están enseñando y apoyando, y a la vez, ayudo a otros niños que se estás iniciando en la música. Les estaré mostrando los proyectos en los que estoy colaborando.
Como dibujante puedo mostrarles mi proceso en los retratos; las técnicas que he desarrollado y cómo logro el parecido realista. En cuanto a la ilustración, aún no podré desarrollar con libertad los proyectos que tengo. Por lo que solo ofrezco mis servicios para comisiones personales.
Actualmente no tengo teléfono inteligente y mi mini laptop está saturada con la universidad. Así que me esforzaré en llenar esta comunidad con un contenido que la enriquezca y confío en que ella me brindará la posibilidad de financiarme.
En ninguna de las áreas soy una profesional; mucho es resultado de excelentes profesores y amigos que me han heredado sus saberes, y otro poco ha salido con la prueba y el error. Por eso también estoy aquí para inspirarme, con una mente dispuesta a aprender de ustedes. Y que cada aprendizaje y apoyo económico sea para emprender los proyectos con los que deseo trabajar.

My dear friend @nestorvc01 introduced me to this community and offered me his support with equipment to create content - A toast to those good friends, xo-. While he was telling me about this platform I was very excited about the diversity of its contents, and at the same time that it could transmit in a simple way the art and all the colors of our reality. I really love that, which is why I decided to give it a try despite all the difficulties it presents. I believe that we should leave an inheritance here on earth rather than accumulate and finish everything with our life here.

God has been good, and I want to share with you through songs, poems, stories and reflections, the work he is doing in me, in my family and in many others through his Son.
As for music, I still have a long way to go. But I have crossed paths with great musicians and friends who are teaching me and supporting me, at the same time, I help other kids who are starting in music. I will be showing you the projects in which I am collaborating.
As a draftsman I can show you my process in portraits; the techniques I have developed and how I achieve the realistic likeness. As for illustration, I will not yet be able to develop freely the projects I have. So I only offer my services for personal commissions.
Currently I don't have a smart phone and my mini laptop is saturated with college. So I will strive to fill this community with content that enriches it and I know that it will give me the possibility of self-financing.
In none of the areas I am a professional; much is the result of excellent teachers and friends who have passed on their knowledge to me, and a little has come from trial and error.
