As always before I begin, I would like to thank those that provided awesome support for my content. My wife @laviesm for inspiring me to continue pursuing my content creation dream here in HIVE; to all the hivers that had read or will read my content, kudos and I hope you have fun reading this.
Not much to add here, so let's begin..
A Bit of a Backstory
As a little kid I had been told not to pursue any vices, I had also seen much of the bad sides of those that had been drinking or smoking and it was ingrained on me that people with vices tend to be bad influences or people with ill intentions. So as I was growing up, I tend to stay away from people and even friends that went on to develop these vices.
High school came and the same stigma still comes to mind with people smoking, drinking, having casual sex, or doing drugs. But as I get to know these people, it seems that not all come with ill intent and some are even considerate of my opinions about it and as such tend to go away a bit if they would do such.
Not too long, my Dad started introducing me to drinking alcohol with him. He said that there are some vices that are a big no-no but there are some that he will accept me doing as long as it's under his supervision. One of the big no-no's for him was smoking cigarettes. For him it was too expensive of a vice and he wouldn't want me to get into it, as he was proof of his advice. He was so adamant about it that he would give me a car for college if I didn't smoke as I reached 18. I also challenged him to quit it since I love him very much and I wanted him to have a healthier and longer future.
For awhile he did managed to kick it out.. but not without the help of Vaping as a way to cope. He went clean for 2 years and I got his pickup truck.. It was a win-win. To this day I still haven't gotten into smoking cigarettes and I think I never will be. One of the very few lessons from my Dad that I am thankful for and taking to heart.
College was a bit of a wild roller-coaster. All the vices you can think of in a sea of raging hormones, teenage angst, untapped sexual desires, and a ton of stress. If it eases anyone's tensions, it's bound to be just around the corner. I personally didn't have the slightest clue how I was able to make it out of there without succumbing to any of the no-no's my Dad imposed upon me. Maybe I'm really just a good boy, or maybe the stigma still persisted in my subconscious.. All I can say is that I'm a little bit more innocent than I thought I was. The only vice I was allowed, I took to heights unimagined.. College kids are basically high functioning alcoholics in my time.. you see them fighting or getting passed-out-drunk at 5am and still manages to attend their 7am class like it was nothing. I'm a living testimony to that actually..
Cut to Today
It was just recent that alot of stress is taking too much from me.. I can't turn to drinking because I'm now developing high levels of uric acid (basically it's my body taking revenge on my past actions). I can't do the other stuff either because it's either prohibited by law or not the most practical means of taking the edge off (nail-biting when you basically had no more finger nails left is kinda impractical)..
I really didn't want to turn to smoking cigarettes as well.. so I did a cop out and started vaping. It's been a few days since I bought one and it has helped a bit. I somehow got into it way back when my dad had me try it. Any time some of my friends were into vaping, I kinda wanted to try it just for the taste of the juices they bought. It's really just now that I went out of my way to own one and it's been a discovery.
I've gone through 3 different e-liquids this past couple of weeks, first one I tried was a strawberry cheesecake flavor which had a very sweet taste and a fragrant lingering aroma, I asked around and someone suggested I try minty flavors, I tried going for a frozen yoghurt flavor so I can have the minty cool feel as it comes out as well as still have that sweet dessert-y flavor that I have come to know. What I have now is a minty blueberry flavor to shift to a fruitier flavor. All of them are good for my preference but who am I to know since I am just starting out..
I also did a few DIY when it comes to rewicking, cleaning, and recoiling my vape. I still need to get better at it though since I have wasted a few cotton bacons on rewicking and I have gone through two sets of coils over 3 weeks since I had didn't properly maintained them. I also am looking at articles and videos regarding such as well as on how to vape safely.
I don't know if I'll still be into it once the stressors ease down. But for now this will have to do.. who knows, maybe this will be how I start losing weight or something. I still will practice responsibly, much like how my friends did back in the day. My wife always jokingly asks me if we're in heaven because my workroom always is covered in thick vape clouds.. I don't think she might be joking anymore so I try to go outside or at least box myself behind our backroom.
