Luang Prabang, Laos may be landlocked, but it doesn't feel that way when you're enjoying all the lovely riverside views.

The View Kaengnoon is a popular outdoor restaurant just out of town by the Namkhan River. My girlfriend's friend's fiance has this retro army jeep and picked us all up. I'm not a fan of gas-guzzling or show-off vehicles, but I really enjoyed sitting in his windowless jeep.

I was just a linguist in the army and never saw combat, but I've noticed that anytime I meet another soldier we'll usually bond even if they're from a different country or generation.

I like Asian girls. I've been to Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, but I think Lao girls are the cutest. They're pretty laid back and not so materialistic either.

My girlfriend thought that since I am a strong swimmer that she'd ride on my back to the big heart in the middle of the river. I tried to tell her that the water was too shallow for that and that I was getting killed by the rocks. She thought I was just joking until she saw how cut up I was at the heart.

We drank lots of beer and had a lot of food. I think the bill for everyone was about $40. There are few places in the world where you can have a good experience like this for so cheap.

Even though I adopted him at two months, have taught him everything, feed, and bathe him every day, my dog loves her so much more than me. I made him go into the river with me. He wasn't happy about it at all.

Thanks for reading about our day at the river. Have a good one!
