This week's prompt is about pitching a business idea you think will be highly profitable even though few people do it. The one I want to suggest is writing and publishing books.
I was discussing with my dad, who is a lawyer, one day about making money from writing and publishing books and he mentioned one law lecturer he knows that made a lot of money doing that. The lecturer taught them when he was still a law student.
Remember the woman that wrote the Harry Potter books, J. K Rowling. She was a nobody before she wrote Harry Potter. The books sold in the millions and made so much money for her that she became the first billionaire author. I have read about a lot of people who earned a living authoring books: Mark Twain, John Steinbeck, Charles Dickens, Chinua Achebe, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, William Shakespeare, Wole Soyinka, not to mention them all.
I have given this idea serious thought over and over and realise it could be profitable if one can do it well. Here's how it will work.
To make money from authoring books one must abide by certain rules. Those rules are:
First they must pick a subject that people will be interested to read about.

Secondly, they must be very knowledgeable in that subject. They must possess a lot of valuable information on that subject. If they think they are not knowledgeable enough in that subject they can improve their knowledge of it by reading books, attending seminars and conferences, taking courses, learning from others who are already good on that subject.
Thirdly They must write about that subject in a way that is unique. Whatever subject you pick to write on, chances are some other people have already written on the subject. You must write in a way that is unique from other authors.
If one keeps to these rules they can make a decent amount from authoring books. And these days it's easy to get published. There are many online publishing platforms like Amazon Kindle where you don't have to pay a hefty fee to get published.

I hope to start doing this full time in the near future. Maybe I will earn a lot from it and even bulid a career out of it.
