I think my favorite part of being human is the way I always tend to believe that everything will work out just fine which i learnt from my dad. I might be worried, ranting, crying and palpitating so badly, but in the end there are hopes that I hold on to, he made me believe that when you are kind, gift someone or appreciate their efforts you get those backs in folds which is a form of hope that when you're in need something good will definitely come up but dad thought me that in a very hard way.
My dad was a very strict man, he taught me and my siblings a lot of things which felt like a punishment or inconsiderate then but growing up now and putting those things into practice as brought a lot of good my way, one of it back then was mandating each one of us to gift the household, no matter the kind of job we do then and regardless of what the pay might be, it either you replace something that is old, or buy something that is needed for the upkeep of our house, it felt like a punishment,it was hard because I also have to take care of my own basic needs too, imagine earning ten thousand naira or below then and I had to gift the house something probably worth half of my little salary.
Am not a inside the box kind of person, i let my mind wander and sometimes roar with the thought of if he really his my Dad. But as I grow i realize it was a good lesson, it taught me to be appreciative and also gift people no matter how small.
Later in the year, when I moved out of my parents and I had to stay with a family friend while I was working, each time I received my salary I buy something for the house, it was an outstanding quality to them that I started receiving positive comments from them it made me want to do more. It got to a point this knowledge was impacted to my friend's family lifestyle and they really loved it.
This act kept on going and it really helped me when I finished school and couldn't afford my NYSC fees and all. Due to the good I've done, although we had our indifferences, I was referred to one their acquaintances who helped me out throughout my service year without paying a dime. At that point, i reflected back that once good turn deserve another, and then I decided I would like to replicate this to my children but the part I never want to replicate in upbringing them is despite the lesson of giving and appreciation my dad pass on to me he didn't let me know the essence or reasons so it seemed like a wicked scheme to me. So when am passing it to my children I would make them clearly understand it by telling them my story and how it has helped me.
