Describe a moment when you felt threatened, either physically or emotionally. What led to the scenario? How did you respond, and what did you learn about yourself?
We leave in an insecure world. So, we can expect anything to happen anytime. Let's take a moment to reflect on what happened on Thursday i India. Those who where in the plane was threatened before the plane crash. Many who lost their lives that day never knew that day will be their end. My condolences to the bereaved families.
I have faced so many life threatening situations and but am gonna share two now. It was around 2015. Then i wans in Owerri Imo State Nigeria. I do hear stories of armed robbers terrorizing the areas but i haven't witnessed it myself. So, one faithful evening, i saw running inside my compound and when i listened, i heard a sound of gunshots. I quickly ran inside and lock my door 🚪.
Few hours later, everywhere was quite and people started coming out from their hideouts. Guess what! Two brothers where shot dead at the spot.. According to the story, their was a security Hilux carrying Imo rescue mission squards and, they went to meet with the paramount ruler. On their way back, unknown to them that the car coming opposite them are those hardened criminals. Immediately they saw these security agencies, the rubbers started shooting them. Before they could know what was going on, two persons are already dead.
Their was fear and screaming within my compound that day. The two brothers that was shot dead were my neighbors as well. Honestly, i was really frightened because of this incident to the point that, i wasn't comfortable living in Orji Owerri till we left that location.
Because of continuous arm rubbing attack in that area, i don't move out at night or late in the evening since their attacks are always late in the evening. I'm m always alert so that once i hear a gun shot i will run for my life. With what happened that day, i learned the following important lesson's.
Life is a mist. It can just appear now and tomorrow is no longer there.
To do good to people when i'm alive because i don't know what future holds
- Ask questions before renting an apartment in any locations i don't know much.
- Living my life as if it was my last breath 🫁.
I have also experienced emotional threatening. That was my early 20's when i had serious malaria. Honestly, i nearly lost my life then because it was much including thyroid. It got to the point that each time i closed my eyes to sleep, things like cat's and dark spirits creatures will be attempting to carry me. I was very afraid that i never want to sleep again because, once am dizzy, they will appear. And once i woke up, fear will grab hold of me.
One night while i was sleeping, i found myself spreading clothes tied on Iroko tree. When i get closer, my late father asked me to go back but i refused. Immediately, he picked up a stick and i started running back. That's how i woke up here as a human being. I almost lost my life that faithful day.
These teaches me that life is just the air that we breath it and once we breathe out without breathing in, our life is gone. I tried not to be wicked to people and enjoy my life while an still alive because, that's what i gain from my labour.
