This thing is more common in my country, Nigeria. Many parents always have this urge to pick a career path for their children, which should be something that's being cushioned in the country.
The government should help put an end to this thing, because it has had a way of affecting many Nigerians and has ended up making some of them not even know what they want for themselves any more.
As parents, it's normal to want the best for our children. But when it comes to choosing a career path, parents should learn to let their children make their own decisions. In my opinion, children should have the freedom of choosing their profession and career path.
Because at the end of the day, it's their life. They should always let these children go for what they are passionate about because, at the end of the day, it is that passion that's going to keep them on track and also help them grind more.
This has helped the white people more, and that's why they've got more productive citizens compared to my country, Nigeria. The white people in most cases learn to study what their children are passionate about right from when they were younger and help them attain that level of success they want for themselves.
By guiding and showing them the right path to go about it with love. It has a way of making the child feel fulfilled and proud of themselves at the end of the day. That's the more reason why they have professionals in many fields.
The Problem I've Come To Notice About Parental Interference In My Country:
Forcing a child into a particular career or profession has led many to feel unhappy and unfulfilled. Many Nigerian parents, for instance, push their children into renowned careers like law or medicine, etc. without considering their children's passions.
Which, if you ask me, is a disrespect to their personality. Because why make them pursue careers they don't love just because they want to make you happy? It's something that shouldn't be allowed.
Are they living their life to please you or to have a sense of fulfillment for themselves? They should always learn to respect the decisions of the children and help guide them through the right path to attain the level of success they want for themselves.
Why Children Should Decide:
- It's their life: Children will live with the consequences of their career choices.
- Personal growth: Allowing children to make their own decisions fosters a sense of independence, self-discovery, and responsibility.
- Passion and motivation: When children pursue their interests, they're more likely to excel and find happiness.
The Role of Parents:
Rather than forcing them to go into a career path you want for them, parents should:

Empower: Help your children acquire the ability of decision-making skills.
