Hello Hive users and members of the Hivenaija community. It's a new week, and this week, I will be sharing with you some important updates you would have known, you should know, or things you haven't discovered yet about the ecency frontend.
I remember the first time I was introduced to Hive, the frontend I was introduced firstly to was ecency, and it became one of the best and most user-friendly frontends ever. I have been with them through various UI/UX updates, and sometimes I help find bugs in the new updates. Only a few people who use wave and deck would be able to tell.
Since Hivenaija has asked us to talk about ecency for our weekly prompt, I will be bringing back some old memories and showing you some of the updates you might not have noticed.
Designed on Canva.
The first thing you need to notice is the user interface. I will be sharing images from the old interface and the new interface. In the old interface, as you can see below, you would notice that the Discover, Wave, and Deck are separated with a slash line.
You saw that right, but in the new interface, they are separated with a dot. Not only that, in the old interface, you can see the amount of people that have viewed your post in the post header that's connetected to the body of the post but in the new interface you would see that is has been seperated from the body of the post, you can see the word count in the new header and not just that, you can also play the write up if you are feeling tired of reading.
In the old user interface, most of this information was always on the side, meaning you had to scroll down first to see all this information before you started reading the post, but now it has been made easier to see everything in one place.
You can see it about the part where all the information was put. Imagine reading a post not knowing the word count, the minutes it will take you to read. I am also clad they remove that Top Curator part. It has improved the user experience and also helped keep some information private.
The next is the place you write to publish your post. This one is one of the most interesting ones. The old user interface for publishing a post has been updated to something new, but I know that the @ecency team knows how much people love the old interface, so they didn't take it away from us; instead, it was rebranded as the "Classic Editor"
Now, because the classic editor is with us, it doesn't mean there was no change to the publishing user interface. A lot has changed, like you can now view your images immediately after you upload them, it will show in code, and you don't have to check the preview before you see what you upload; you can view them immediately.
If you look at the two images very well, you will see the big difference between the two interfaces. I love that the new interface allows us to write everything we want to write before we go in to start adding the tags and setting our beneficiary. Another thing about this interface is that, when you click on the three-dot close to the "Continue to publish", you can select the "Classic Editor" and go back to the old interface.
Another thing I love about the new interface is that, when you drop the link to your post either in the comments or in your blog, it will load and show the thumbnail to that post.
Fun Fact: there is more to ecency like micro blogging, boosting your account, getting HP delegation, giving points, and so much. Join the hivenaija prompt today and read more about what ecency has to offer.
