The year is rounding up and it feels like yesterday same time last year when I just completed the newbies-hive initiative program, I had only recently joined Hive and was lucky enough to be admitted into the initiative, where my orientation about Hive and how to grow on the blockchain were fueled with the knowledge gotten in just seven weeks of the program. One of the topics learned that has been of great help to me in my hive journey was about setting goals and not just goals, SMART goals, you can get more info from this post, I went practical with these lessons, and by the middle of this year, I had already succeeded my initial goal of attaining 1k hp, starting with about 300hp at the beginning of the year, at the time of writing this post, I've already gone past double of my 2023 goal, and my hp currently sits at 2.5k. This proves that when you set your goals smartly, stay consistent, and focused, and work towards achieving that goal, you not only achieve that goal but there is every tendency for you to supersede your expected goals.
I will call 2023 my year of learning and being practical, I'm still learning, because you can't learn it all, and learning never stops, so today, I will be sharing with you some tips I think every newbie on Hive should know before setting their 2024 goals because I know a lot of us do this goal setting but get frustrated at some point especially when you don't see a quick result.

1 Focus on your Niche
You would already know by now how vast Hive is, and trying to fill in everywhere would only get you frustrated especially when you don't get much attention from all these communities you try to fit in, before Hive, I believe we all had what interested us that writing about it comes natural to us, often due to the experience or passion we have concerning that particular topic, and when we find like minds with same interest, it is easy to blend in and gain the attention you seek on hive, and we don't get frustrated trying to find what to write, because I know this pose as a challenge for many newbies, I was one, not all of us were writers before getting I boarded, we only grew in learning with time, and what better way to grow if not vy blogging about what you are passionate about, Hive will always have a community that fits in everyone, on my part for instance, fashion/diy is my hub, finding the needleworkmonday community made it easy for me to start my week on hive with contents about my sewing journey, what's yours? Start from there.
2 Engagement Matters
This is another vital part of the blockchain most newbie ignore, come on if you could spend hours on a web2 platform that don't pay you, how come you find it difficult to spend some time on a blockchain that not only rewards you, you also gain so much knowledge from different brilliant kinds all over the world, I've said it severally that there is no day I come on hive and don't hain something new, in addition, engagement brings about connection and visibility, do you know there is a leaderboard that shows daily active users, Imagine as a newbie, your name gets featured almost everyday due to your active and meaningful engagement, there is no doubt with time your presence becomes noticed, so when setting your 2024 goals, makes engagement a part of your new year goals, you could give your self a target, it's not necessary to disrupt your offline activities, just aim at meeting your target and creating a balance between your offline and online activities.
3 Staying consistent is key
I've been opportune to monitor some newbies for a while now, and one thing I noticed is them having prolonged breaks between blog post, , some two weeks, and even more, every newbie should aim at growing their account and one vital way we can grow our account is being active on the blockchain through our blog post to maintain presence, which brings curation rewards that also helps in building our stakes or involving in the gaming part of the block chain, or growing your portfolio, Investing in hive engine token while we wait for the bull run, growing your stake, I recently learned that what helps Hive grow in value is by increasing your stake, through power-ups, LPUD, HPUD, a'sch curation rewards helps us achieve, unless you aim at investing on hive from an outside source to grow your stake, you should focus on being consistent with your blogging, I'm emphasizing on blogging because that is where I'm personally focused on at the moment to increase my stake, yours might be different from mine, if same, and you can't blog daily, which is not compulsory too, you could commit three days a week and stay consistent so it will be easy for your account to grow steadily, one good tip for you to stay consistent on blogging is by participating in community contest, it makes it easy for you to get topics to write about and you also get inspired by other authors writing on the same topic.
As you embark on setting your 2024 goals, remember that Hive rewards consistency, passion, and engagement. Define your path, engage meaningfully, and stay committed to the journey. And I'm sure the coming year be filled with growth, learning, and the realization of your Hive aspirations.
