Good morning guys, happy weekend and compliments of the season, it's about that time of the year where we host family, friends and loved ones and spread the cheers of the season and we all know one of the ways of sharing this cheers is with food. Especially at my home because during this time my dad brothers and families comes to visit meaning mom gets to be in the kitchen and all hands need to be on deck. In my home you'll think by all hands mine are included but no it's not, this time of the year I'm banned from all preparations especially when it comes to preparing the salad, frying the meats and most especially frying the plantains 🥺😪. It seems some supernatural forces reduces the quantity before the preparation completes at my hands 😂😂.
Hear me out before you judge me, I don't think there is anybody in this world that is deciplined enough to not taste the plantains while frying it, while cutting to small pieces I find my hands putting the ripe juicy pieces in my mouth 😔. Let's not even talk about when I'm frying it their golden brown hue, crisp edges, and soft, sweet interior create an irresistible treat that tantalizes the senses as soon as they hit the hot oil with an irresistible aroma that makes it hard for you to look away no matter how hard you try.
Even with my ban during this period I still find my way to get into the kitchen and sneak one or two pieces into my mouth 😂, and the problem about this problem is that I'm not the only one in the house with this problem. There are times where while I'm sneaking in to get it, I find my younger sister sneaking her's out. I even find the very woman that banned me sometimes chewing her mouth while frying and when I confront I get chased out.
There are times where I promise myself I would hold back but I think I have gotten to a point where it has just turned into a habit, one that I must admit whether good or bad I want no solution to, because there is nothing that motivates you to face that rumbling oil from the fry pan than a piece of a crispy yet soft and sweet plantain in your mouth. I get sad at times that after cutting it to many pieces to fry after frying I'm left with a handful but do I regret my actions?? That's a 100% NO 😂.
So please if there is a hack for stopping yourself from eating your plantains while frying kindly keep it to yourself as I am not interested. In fact I don't think such hack exist except you are willing to take extreme measures of burning your tongue with the hot spatula you use in flipping the plantains while frying🙄. But I honestly just want to hear how you guys resist the urge to eat it while frying in the comments so that I can experiment it.
