Yesterday was an amazing day for me. You know those videos you watch on social media where a guy appears to be homeless and starts begging on the street to see if there's anyone kind enough to help him with money or food, only to end up being rich at the end, well that's my story.
Yesterday was a bit hectic for me,I took permission from the shop to go out , and when I came back, there was no customer so it was just me and my neighbor that was in the shop.
While we were just gisting, my neighbor stepped out to go get some food for us when a man looking homeless walked into the shop.
When he came in, I noticed he took off his slippers at the door, and I quickly asked him to wear them which he did.
He started talking about how he was trained and normally when he would go to a stranger's place, he would always remove his slippers at the door. I told him he didn't have to do that especially if it was a public place.
It's understandable if you're entering someone's home to always take off your shoes,It's a sign of respect.
When he came in , he said he wanted to ask me for a favor and immediately I knew he wanted to ask for food. He said he hadn't eaten anything since the previous day and was very hungry, and he slept on the road with no roof over his head .
Immediately I felt so bad for him, I almost cried .

He asked if I could spare him some money, and I told him I didn't have any cash on me, honestly guys, I was just with my transport fare back home yesterday . I felt so bad because I couldn't help him with anything.
I then remembered I had some garri at the shop and asked him if he'd want it. ( I always keep garri at the shop, if you know you know😂😂). He immediately said he would want the garri. Luckily for me I had more than enough to give to him.
I wrapped the Garri, pure water and plate up in a fancy bag and gave it to him.
He was very grateful to me for helping him with the food.
When he was about to leave , he told me it was a test.
I asked if he was joking, and he said No. he wasn't joking . He said he just wanted to try and see if anyone would help him .
I was surprised and shocked at everything, coz I only see things like this on the Internet. He told me he's a marine engineer and he's from Port Harcourt, and comes to Bayelsa every once in a while to visit his family.
All I could think of was "I hope this guy isn't filming me " coz I hate to be caught unfresh 😂.
He told me he didn't expect a pretty girl like me to be nice. He said I looked too beautiful and people that look like me are always rude 😂. Well don't judge a book by it's cover they say.
After narrating his life story for me, he gave me back the garri and asked for my account number , he asked me to name an amount and he would give it to me.
I was still in a little bit of shock and I told him anything would be fine and he said I should put a price. I hesitated and then he said he would send me three hundred thousand naira and that's approximately $203 by the end of the day.
Guys!! I couldn't believe my ears.
I went home and told my siblings about it ,but they didn't Believe me that much. They said the person was just playing.
Past 9pm in the night, I picked up my phone and saw an alert of a whooping 300k . I looked at my phone in disbelief coz to me it felt like a dream.
Just an act of kindness brought back something worth more than the Garri I gave him.
Be kind guys , just be kind. It truly pays.

Me : realized it was all a dream too good to be true, I checked my account balance just to be sure and i got the shock of my life 😭😭
