There are moments in life that shake people from the inside out. Everything changes—thoughts, plans, even the way we see ourselves. That turning point in my life came in 2021, right when the entire country was under lockdown due to the Corona pandemic.
That day is still vivid in my mind. I was working on a project then, and one day I had to go out for work. Although the company car was sent for me, it was parked far from home. So, my father and I were forced to set off in a rickshaw.
There were not many people on the road, there was silence all around, everything seemed to have stopped. Suddenly, a speeding truck hit our rickshaw at the Kaushik intersection. All three of us, my father, and our rickshaw-pulling brother—were thrown out. The accident was so horrific that the rickshaw-pulling brother died on the spot. My father and I were seriously injured.
The most terrifying moment was when I was rushing my father to the hospital in an ambulance. Inside, I thought, if I had nothing today, if I had no money, what would I do?
When I got to the hospital, I heard that I would need a lot of medicine, tests, and money. Then I realized that in this world, love and feelings are difficult, but reality is also difficult. Fortunately, I was working at the time and had some money. So I was able to quickly arrange everything I needed for my father's treatment.
From that day on, I was no longer the same. My thinking and outlook on life changed. I realized that being successful in life does not just mean being luxurious or famous—success means being able to stand by your loved ones in times of danger.
I promised myself—"I must succeed." Because life is full of uncertainty, and in order to keep yourself and your family safe, you have to create the ground under your feet.
From then on, I did not waste any more time. I have improved my skills, become mentally strong, and always tried to learn new things. Today, I may not be a big person in everyone's eyes, but I know that my parents can count on me. This is my biggest achievement.
The definition of success in life may be different for many. But for me, success means being able to put a smile on the faces of your loved ones, being able to stand by them in times of danger.
