Hope is something that may help us in many situations, even when all the options seem to be very hopeless. It is that light at the end of the tunnel that makes us push harder and never to give up since there is hope for a better tomorrow.
I recall this particular day and night as one of the coldest winter nights as I struggled to come to terms with the shocking news. My dear and close-knit friend, who always stood for me was now diagnosed with a terrible disease – the disease no one wants to die of.
These words rang like a refrain in my head as I am left with no idea of what to do and extremely hopeless. As the days went by, i cried and was worried. I was like a fish out of water and I had lost my way of finding an exit from that depth of hopelessness.
It was one day, I was sitting in the hospital, and my best friend was in the bed in front of me and I felt as if I have lost everything, a gentle voice spoke to me one day. It is my bestie, who after her suffering became a source of hope for me. She shared the things she believed in, the things she was afraid of, her commitment in facing whatever is yet to come and that we will survive this.
She soothed my wounds and gave me inspiration and hope in its purest form with her words. The days subsequently passed and every time I was in a doubt, I was banking all my strength on the words of wisdom my bestie gave me.
Eventually, I decided to look for a shoulder to lean on, to find someone, family member, friend, or even anyone I met online who had ever been a victim of such experiences. I read success stories of the survivors, prayed for them as well as to myself, and also engaged in some meditation with the aim of getting my mind off the upset.
That moment of hope taught me valuable lessons that I carry with me till this day. I learnt that
Hope is a choice: when you find yourself in the most difficult conditions, you and only you have the power to turn what’s bad into what’s good.
Base your life on the people who build you up and support you as you strive towards your goal.
We must believe in something greater than ourselves and in this way, we are able to carry on.
And now- We know that no challenge that we have faced is impossible to overcome.
The possibility of attending such a school during a time when I encountered various challenges was a valuable experience. It somewhat jogged my memory that every situation in life is not hopeless, you just have to find a crack through which to crawl out.
Hope is a gift that enables people to look forward to something in despair; this is something that needs to be encouraged. Life sometimes takes you to the darkest corners; yet, the beauty of life is that hope is always within a whisper.
