It's almost the second quarter of the year already!
Wow, how time flies indeed. How the first day of this year turned out was still very fresh in my mind, and already we are counting six months back. My African people will always say that time waits for no man, and having this in mind is actually good and could be a motivator to remain intentional with our daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly goals. The past six months have been challenging but not totally bad, as I took my time to really evaluate myself and my goals.
Going through the details of the prompt, the first thing I did was bring closer my diary and take a peek. This year's goal was not only written on the blockchain but also in my thick diary, where from time to time I check to see how far I have gone, which of my goals have remained dormant, and why. Which of my goals are in progress or lagging? Tracking my goals more often has helped me to remain focused on the ones I have total control over, but obviously there are ones I don't have total control over. So many external factors keep affecting my progress, but the reason I am not so hard on myself is because I am actually trying my best.
As a human, I am making an effort on my end and just hoping that things fall into place for me, and however it turns out at the end of this year, I will still be grateful for my little win and keep forging ahead for better days.
One of my major goals this year was to set up my water factory and have it functional at least before the end of June. However, this year's economy in Nigeria has been what it is. I have never experienced this kind of inflation since my 35 years in this country. Aside from the issue of resources, which became a hindrance along the way, I had loads of processes to catch up with NAFDAC. Some of these processes required that I set up additional structures to my main factory and work on other documents as required. This came with huge expenses, and so far I have used my capacity and left the remaining pending until I have more resources to continue. The inflation affected this project so much because for every single thing we have been buying or paying for, the cost tripled as it was used to be, coupled with other family financial responsibilities. I told myself that it is best to rest a little in order to keep my sanity; if it doesn't happen this year, we will try again next year.
Other of my goals this year include saving HBDs for emergency fund, building my HP, investing in other crypto coins, blogging daily, and enhancing my writing skills. I will proudly say that taking action in HBDs savings for emergency funds has been a lifesaver for the past six months. As if I knew that there would be so many emergency funds this year, I have been intentional about saving. If you check my HBD savings currently, you wouldn't see anything there, but I have saved lots of it there that really helped me when I needed it. Because withdrawing HBD takes 3 days, what I did each time there was an emergency need for money was to quickly borrow from a friend and pay back after the three-day withdrawal window. I am not stopping this exercise because, indeed, it's a great one. Building my HP is also a work in progress, and I will see how it goes at the end of the year.
Other crypto investments were a success, although some of the coins I bought are dipping. I want to believe that it's a general issue currently in the crypto market. However, some coins I bought, I already withdrawn my capital and kept the profit in my crypto wallet, and some in exchange. Hopefully, I shall see the greener days. This step made me mingle more with crypto enthusiasts, and it's been a whole lot of learning and knowledge about crypto. I must commend my effort so far in this regard.
Finally, blogging daily to earn the yearly badge would have been a success, but I missed a day already when my phone suddenly crashed just before I published my post for the day. I didn't have control over this, so I let it slide. I will try again next year. And then enhancing my writing skills? Oh no, Nkem has to do better, hahaha. Learning to blog started here on Hive. I am learning everything here because I was never a writer, but I am not seeing myself making progress so far on this aspect. If you have any tips for me, please share them.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate myself 6/10 in terms of reaching the goals I laid out at the beginning of the year. Still a pass mark, hehehehe.
