When it comes to music, I can be really selective; I'd rather listen to gospel music all day, but on those days when I want to listen to circular music, I concentrate heavily on the lyrics before I even begin to sing along.
The more reason why I love artists like Simi, Adekunle Gold, Spyro, and other artists who are mindful of their lyrics. The most recent song released by Spyro has got a different place in my heart because it reminds me so much of the bond I share with my siblings.
Everything about the song reminds me of what we have been through as a family and how we have been able to stand by each other through situations that life has placed us in.
My parents were one to compare a lot; my younger sister has always been the bookworm in the family, so my parents loved her more, and they never seized every opportunity to show it, even to the extent of making a literal comparison.
This made me not to like her, and we fought a lot. We grew up to understand our parents were acting based on limited knowledge, and we started to bond like we should. Now, we are very good friends.

When I got into the higher institution, I knew my parents didn't have the financial capacity to fully support me and my siblings through school; even if paying school fees was not a big deal, meeting other needs was going to be a serious case.
Knowing what I went through during my first year, I didn't want my siblings to go through the same fate, so I started a business, which grew so well. This business was able to sort out all my needs in school, and I even had enough to send to my siblings from time to time.
I made sure whenever they gained admission into the higher institution, I was there to help them carry out their first registration and get them settled in school, making sure they lacked nothing. Our bond grew stronger by the day, and they referred to me as the second mom.
A few years down the line, life happened, and my business started to struggle a lot. I was taking loans to sustain the business, and it was getting very difficult to get past every day.
As at that time, my younger sister was almost done with her service year and she had saved a large percentage of her allowance to take a course that would further her career, but immediately she learned about my business struggle; she withdrew all her savings and gave me to support my then struggling business.
I was moved to tears because I never expected such a display of love and sacrifice from her. I am used to being the sacrificial one in the family, so getting the display of love filled my heart with joy.
Sometime later, my rent was due, and I had no way to pay back my rent. I was so worried and anxious about the embarrassment that was knocking on the door if I didn't have the ability to pay at the due time, my brother was already getting design gigs at the time and saving up for a new laptop that would further enhance his career.
Two days before my rent would expire, I got a call from my brother, and he was asking if I had gotten my rent. After telling him no, he said God would provide, and we ended the call. Only for me to receive an alert a few minutes later of the balance of the rent I was looking for.
I immediately called to ask where he got the money from, and he told me it was the money he was saving for a new laptop. I cried so much because I wasn't happy they were giving me when I should be the one giving them, but then again, to find out that I have people who will make the same sacrifice I made for them for me is very touching.
My siblings are literally my world, and I don't even hide it at all. People close to me already know that to get on my nerves is to try to touch my siblings; I don't even joke with them at all.
The lyrics of this spyro's song just describe our relationship, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I know that, regardless of what life throws at me, I have a family to fall back on, and I tell you there is no feeling as pure as that.
