ln our world today, everyone is exposed to social life and social media. We all have what keeps us distracted or what takes our attention from other important things.
In this article, I will be shaving more light on how social media has affected us negatively, and how it has been a source of destruction, beside effects of using social media too much and how we can balance and use of social media.

SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is a complex world, data so many platform and tools. Social media can be used for so many things like, sharing information or datas, to create datas, for chatting purpose, and also for fun.
Social media has made communication so easy, with the help of social media, we can interact with each other regardless of the distance barrier. Aside for the use no of communication, social media has made life so fun and easy to access and pass information.
Do you think social media has any disadvantages? 🤔
Well, there are lots of harmful disadvantages, below are some of them 👇
social isolation : social media has the ability to connect us with different people online, and it also has the ability to make us distance ourselves from people around us, and this would only happen when we spend too much time on social media.
Affecting our mental health : social media can lead to depression, because lots of times, people get bullied on social media and other times people drop hate comments and gift can lead to mental breakdown.
depriving a person from sleeping : looking a device screens for too long and having frequent notifications, can take away a person's sleep.
low self-esteem : meaning of social media for a long of time, can bring down a person's self-esteem.
comparison : a lot of social media platforms promotes extravagant lifestyle or luxury lifestyles. When a person pays attention to these things, it can lead to unnecessary comparison, a lot of people feel so oppressed cause of what they see on social media, making them feel less of themselves.
cyberbullying : a lot of social media platforms can facilitate bullying and saying harmful things to people, and most times this hurtful words leads to mental breakdown.
Addictions : social media can really be addictive, when an individual pay more than usual attention to social media activities, this can lead to social media addiction. When an individual is addicted to social media, he/she would spend more time on social media , making the person less productive.
fear of missing out : being a social media addict, can race an alarm of urgency, making an individual to always check on latest updates online.
unable to underline the boundaries : be consistently active on social media can make an individual ignore the boundaries between personal life and work, most times this leads tools less concentration during work hours.
unnecessary multitasking : social media can lead to unnecessary multitasking, making an individual to divide attention between pleasure times and productivity hours.
false information : a lot of people on social media loves attention so much, so most people go as far as, making up of fabricating fake news of fake information to get attention, and if an individual is not careful or selective about what the read on social media, a person can share this fake news in place of real informations.
PROCRASTINATION.
Procrastination can be really dangerous, a lot of social media addicts procrastinate importance things a lot. Always bear in mind that procrastinations is the thief of time, if an individual is not careful he/she would end up procrastinating importance things.
Social media has a great influence in procrastination
Procrastination is a bad habit.
Personally social media has done more harm than good to me, before now I procrastinate a lot. There are sometimes I would have important things to do either at work or at home, but because of social media, I will be carried away, instead of me to use my time to be productive, I would consume those times watching tiktok or Instagram.
And this is due to too much of procrastinating.
HOW TO BALANCE SOCIAL MEDIA AND WORK LIFE
To be able to balance work life with social media require self-discipline and setting some boundaries.
I will be listing some things to know balance social media and work activities. 👇
Don't multitask : always stay focused at one task at a time, this would help to maintain a good productivity time.
Set boundaries : set boundaries for yourself, know when to be on social media and when you should not.
Time track : use time tracking tools to monitor how much time you've spent on social media and know how to adjust your time, so it won't affect other activities in your life.
CONCLUSION
There are many beautiful things that we all love to do,but we shouldn't overdo it, everything should be done moderately.
Social media is a beautiful world, it is worth exploring, but you should also bear in mind to be cautious so we won't spend all our time on social media.
