I would always say that my parents were my role model martially. They have been together for more than two decade and are still thriving strong . I have learnt and watched different scenarios play out in their relationship. patterns that I have picked from my parents relationship dynamics;
Patience - My parents are of the opinion that a patient dog eat the biggest meat and as such they try to be patient with each other no matter the situation or circumstances. When one is angry or in a bad mood the other party is calm and tries to control the situation. This has influenced my relationship today in a way where I was quick to reach and lash out. I make an effort to be patient with my partner and see reasons from his perspective.

Tolerance - My parents were able to tolerate each other for more than two decades despite their cultural differences and family background. My parents are from two different tribes with different culture and traditions but they have been able to compromise and tolerate each other despite this and it has influenced my relationship greatly because I have learnt to tolerate no matter what you do or say I have built myself to be accommodating and be tolerant.
Communication - This is one dynamic of my parents relationship that has influenced me greatly,I communicate my feelings and try to give room for my partner to tell me how he feels. We don't just communicate for the sake of it but we make effort to correct ourselves and try to be better version of our selves. Over the years I have found myself replicating some of the dynamics of my parent’s relationship and also diverging from some. The reason I have been replicating some is because I have seen it work for them and it has helped them stay together for a very long time while some dynamics is old school and changing with time some like being a stay home wife and taking care of the home and children. I want to work or own a business to be able to provide for myself and immediate family as against my parent dynamics it works for them but that's one of the things I have diverging from.
