Greetings!
In life, there's events that we will always remember and others we wouldn't want to remember. Though this life has its ups and downs. But even at that, there's always a time when nature would smile at us. Such a time is a time to always remember. Though the bad times too are times that one would not also forget in a rush, but what this is telling us is that, in life there are both good and the bad times and no matter who we are, we would all witness both.
Having said this, there's been a series of events in my life that I would not even want to forget in a rush. Like I said earlier, there's both good and bad times that I have witnessed, but with the topic of the prompt before me, I would like to share with you a time I would love to remember and smile.
Though, this particular time I'm about to share with us didn't come to me directly, but, I'm a character in the event that took place back then. It's now 27 years back when my younger brother was born. But prior to his birth, I was the only one in the hands of my parents and this used to make me feel lonely without even having a companion as I and my parents had to wait for seven years before we could welcome a new born baby into the family.
So, in those periods of time, I used to be lonely and whenever I saw my friends and their siblings playing or having fun together, I used to be unhappy and dejected. Though, I used to play and have fun with them, but at night, when everyone has left for their various homes, it used to be myself and my ear. Though my parents used to be there for me, this can't be compared to having my own siblings.
But not quite long, my mother conceived and on a particular and special morning, the 15th of April, 1998 while I was still in bed and looked around, I couldn't find my mum in her room, likewise my dad. It's our neighbor Mrs Adekunle that told me that both of them had left for the hospital. Though, I knew my mum was pregnant, but I didn't know she was about to deliver our new born baby.
So, after a while, when I was playing with my peers in the neighborhood, I saw my dad coming from afar and I rushed to meet with him on the way and it's when I got to him that he embraced me with joy and broke the good news to me. Immediately I heard the news I screamed and leapt for joy and left my dad to go and break the news to my friends who were around the neighborhood. The funny thing was that I was going from one house to the other to break the news of the arrival of my younger brother to them and this I did from the morning till the noon time. I was so happy that I could curtail my joy.
So, it's later after I have gone round the neighborhood to tell people about the arrival of our new born baby that I went with my dad to the hospital and there at the hospital, I saw my mum with the bouncing baby boy wrapped in her arm. I was so happy as I rushed to embrace my mum for giving me the handsome looking baby. These events really put an end to my loneliness and brought a smile to my face.
On the naming ceremony day, I invited all my friends to come and celebrate with me and my show of celebration that day was superb, though childishly portrayed, but it's worth it.
Now, the baby of that time has now grown up and whenever I sees him, I used to be happy and share with him all that happened at his birth and how I used to be lonely before his arrival, though, he would not agree with me on some of those things as he's now taller than me and would not want me to take and relate with him as a child that he was back then, but seeing him and remembering those events of the past, where I was moving from one house to the other and my childish on the day of the naming ceremony used to put smile on my face and make me happy and I believe this will always make me happy and put smile on my face. Though our mum is no more, leaving him behind for me is a great joy and seeing him doing great is another thing that will always give me unending joy.
So, whenever I remember those events, I do smile and I will always smile.
