I am a human and I have things that piss me off. Among them, there are those that piss me off very easily and in this blog, I want to share one of them:
When someone tries to cheat me:
The world is already very corrupt, and everyone seems to be cool with the new norm of cheating. People do it everywhere with ease and they don't get judged because the cheater is always seen as the smart one, while the one being cheated is seen as the fool. I don't care what the world has turned into, I get easily and highly irritated when someone cheats me and I notice it, or when someone is trying to play smart on me.
Cheating means a lot of things and it has different dimensions, and I dislike all of its facets. Be it in finance, in relationships, or in any form, I hate it. I don't expect anyone to do that to me, and even if I'm being taken as a victim, let it happen without my knowledge.
There’s a guy that does POS business in my compound whom I patronize a lot because I don’t have the time to visit the bank to withdraw money for my transactions. Sometime last year, things got heated between us because he tried to play a fast one on me and I caught him in the act. If you're thinking it was money that led to the argument, no, it wasn’t. Rather, it was his POS charger.
In our compound, we have a guy that occasionally puts on a generator in his house, and whenever he does, we all go there to charge our phones—including the POS guy who usually brings his terminal and everything to charge in that house.
One particular night, we were having our usual charging session. Most of us were going in and out. When I stepped out and came back, I noticed that my charger cord had been changed. When I looked carefully at all the chargers there, I realized that the guy had swapped his charger with mine, and that was unusual because mine is white colour while his is sky blue.
When I approached him, he denied doing anything like that. He insisted that the charger he was using to charge his POS was his. At that moment, I didn’t know if he was in his right senses or not. I got really angry because he was holding my charger and claiming it was his, even with my initials clearly written on the white cord. This guy refused to admit it and insisted that the cord currently plugged into his terminal was his and that there was nothing I could do about it.
My anger reached 100%, and I wanted to fight him, but I was held back. That was how the owner of the house got angry and turned off the generator that night. They settled the matter, and my charger cord was given back to me. When he was asked some questions, he couldn’t answer them, and he left the scene angrily as well.
The guy is older than me, and because of that, he wanted to use the age advantage to swap my charger but I refused.
Thanks!
