Hello everyone, thanks for always reading my posts and thanks to Hive-Naija for this weekly prompt. I'd like to share three things that can really piss me off.
Firstly, littering. I take pride in keeping my space clean, whether it's my room or the front of my building. I often sweep the compound to keep it tidy, and it really pisses me off when people drop litter despite having a dustbin nearby. I've warned my neighbors several times, and thankfully, they've started to take it seriously. Seeing litter in front of my door or where I've just swept really gets to me.
Littering is something that really gets under my skin, and it's frustrating to see people drop litter everywhere. I've noticed that some people don't seem to care about the impact of their actions on the environment and others. They might think it's someone else's responsibility to clean up after them, but I believe that we all have a role to play in keeping our environment clean.
I've had experiences where I've cleaned up the entire compound, only to have someone come along and drop litter again. Thank God I don't know the person that dropped it that day, I would have given the person the warning of his or her life. It's disheartening, to say the least.
Another way people can pissed me of is by playing loud music. I'm a fan of silence and quiet environments. When I was in school, I'd often ask people to keep the noise down, and I'd lock my door to avoid distractions. I have speakers, but I rarely use them because I dislike loud noises. Maybe it's because I grew up in a quiet environment where you could hear a pin drop, but loud music, especially at night, really pisses me off.
There's something about loud music that just grates on me, especially when I'm trying to focus or relax. I've had experiences where I've been trying to study or work, and someone nearby is blasting music with loud speaker, making it impossible for me to concentrate. Some people might think I'm being too sensitive, but for me, loud music is more than just a nuisance – it's a disruption to my entire day.
I've learned to appreciate the peace and quiet of my own space, and I try to be considerate of others when I'm listening to music. I keep the volume low, and I use headphones when I'm in public spaces. It's not that I don't enjoy music; it's just that I prefer to enjoy it in a way that doesn't disturb others.
When someone plays loud music, especially at night, it can be really frustrating. I understand that people have different ways of unwinding, but I believe that we can find ways to enjoy ourselves without disturbing others. Maybe it's just a matter of being more mindful of our surroundings and the people around us. It's not about restricting people's freedom to enjoy music; it's about finding a balance that works for everyone.
Lastly, I'd appreciate it if people could notify me before calling me on WhatsApp video call, especially when I'm in the middle of something important. A quick heads-up would be great. I don't know why some people do that, calling on video without notifying, Similarly, I'd love it if people could schedule visits in advance rather than surprising me. A little notice would make me more welcoming and receptive to their visit. Some people don't seem to understand the concept of privacy, and unannounced visits or video calls can really piss me off.
