It’s becoming interesting how some top world countries are showing concern over the innocent killing of civilians including children in Ukraine committed by the Russian forces. The worst of it all in the war crimes committed by Russia is how most of these top countries that are showing concern about the thousands of lives and properties being lost already in Ukraine are now taken a drastic decision that Russia should be regarded as a terrorist state who has committed genocide against humanity. In this regard, Estonia has joined the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian prosecutor, EU chief Ursula von der Leyen, International advocates, lawyers, and many others to call upon the International Criminal Court (ICC) to bring the president of Russia Vladimir Putin to face war crime panel.
The Baltic Times reported that Estonia's parliament through its foreign minister Urmas Reinsalu has stood on their stand to report to the United Nations (UN) through the Chief Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo about how Russia has committed war crime and genocide in Ukraine that took the life of over thousands of innocent civilians including children. The Estonia foreign minister pointed out that Russia didn’t even show mercy on children they have killed and must be brought to face justice before more civilian lives and properties will be lost again in Ukraine.
Russia thinks that the world will just keep watching them on how they have been killing innocent civilians in Ukraine without condemning their evil acts against humanity. The question here is that does Russia understand that killing innocent civilians especially children in any form of conflict is against the International Criminal Court order if they do, they should have understood that they must account for the war crime and genocide they have been committing in Ukraine since its invasion from 24 February 2022 till date. I believe that most top countries should be glad about Estonia's decision to summiting an overview pointing the war crimes and genocides that Russia has been committing in Ukraine to the UN because Reinsalu and DiCarlo had a strong agreement to tackle Russia against the innocent lives they have killed.
Euronews reported that Estonia was the first EU country that has always been calling on the ICC to regard Russia as a genocide state because they have been killing innocent civilians in Ukraine without showing them mercy as civilians they are. Through the Euronews report, Mariana Betsa a popular Estonia Ambassador to Ukraine has stated that Russia must be held accountable for the war crime and genocide they have committed against humanity in conjunction with the ICC.
A lot of evidence against Russia's war crimes and genocide has been gathered and more are yet to surface as many people across the world have shown interest to prove Russia wrong and make them face ICC. The Bucha killings and mass grave discovered in the city of Izyum is enough evidence of the war crime and genocide that Russia has committed in Ukraine.
The Baltic Times reported that the Estonia foreign minister Reinsalu in the war crime and genocide committed by Russia in Ukraine statement to DiCarlo pointed out that Russia carried the civilians killing in Ukraine as a careful act just to punish Ukraine and it’s should be regarded as a genocide. In the Estonia foreign minister application to the UN, Russia must face the ICC panel for which Russian president Vladimir Putin should be specifically held responsible.
